It's still fair to say though, that if you make it hard/annoying to find books we want to read, the site will not be as successful as it should be. I thought you wanted the feedback ?

Is it possible to have books in more than one category? Like, if it could fall into the sci-fi and fantasy categories, put it in both? I don't know anything about creating a book store, so I have no idea if this would even be possible. But it seems like if it wasn't too difficult, it would make it easier for people to find the books they want. |

Most sci fi is fantasy as well since most of what is in the books does/is not possible in real life. Same with books that deal with shapeshifters, vampires, etc. but also have a love story going at the same time. It's a romance/erotica, but also fantasy. I don't sweat the small stuff like labeling. For me, it will all come down to the pricing. And so far, I haven't found any store that can match Fictionwise. Especially when it comes to their Micropay system. So if you can meet or beat them, I'll be a good customer. So far since the end of last year I have purchased & downloaded 34 books, with a lot more on my wish list to buy.

If it takes longer to get out then that is fine. Like others I would rather have a good site then a thrown together fast updated one |

				Davimee's idea is likely right.

I think that it will be impossible for our webmaster to look at a cover and instantly tell what category it is. So, there will be the same book perhaps under 2 or even 3 categories. Books, like people, do not fit perfectly in a mold. All we can do is try to be correct yet allow someone will look up that book under two categories.

Thank you. Yes, this has been quite an experience. In the last four weeks I have had to learn where to find New York Times Lists, how to hire a part time book reviewer, become an expert on picking apart our own site and making it better, choose categories, write to publishers to gain content, and still try to keep moving. At no time in my career in consumer electronics have I had the most remotely connected training. I could tell you the latest equipment for surface mount of components, read a printed circuit board, talk endlessly about the difference between MLC and SLC flash, tell you the latest shrink-wrap equipment, and tell you how to pick up a house and move it 20 miles away. I have done all that and more. But this is SO different. So, yes, I have progressed a ton in a short time. This is SO hard to get right. SO... this certain site will hold off until it is right! The duck in my Avatar is on the roof of a Volvo Station Wagon (Silicon Valley ducks get Chauffeured). I took the picture as I returned to my car from shopping at "Know new books" on Cal Ave in Palo Alto. I only use system fonts (includes the fonts in the /fonts folder).

				That certain website opening soon
			 Quote:
Very soon I will be able to tell you who has the website and how to get there. This week is a mess of 5 interviews a day for the Paid Intern position. We have to be careful as the position will likely be very long term and will grow into full-time permanent. This is why I have not been on the forum much this week! What I can say about this certain site is that it is very, very close now to opening and it should be amazing! I am finding almost everything I search for on there and it is constantly being updated by the weekly New York Times Bestseller List. I like that it will have one button to bring up all those bestsellers at once. Hope to post the announcement very, very soon now!!

				Cutting Many Checks

Well, this is a long thread. But, to be fair, it started as a question for women only about romance and erotic and transformed into everyone saying what their favorite genre and authors was. Then it transfomed into pricing, search functions, what makes people buy eBooks, and what chases them away. You have to remember that my intent on this forum is to try to be of service. I ONCE tried to "steer" a thread back to its original purpose and got a bit scolded for that. So, I now have to let discussion threads wonder where they may. Yes, this is a long thread. But... I think it has been fruitful for end users and for Astak to learn wants and needs. I apologize for the length... but asking women what they want and what they read has really been incredible. This thread jumped from one post to 100 posts in two days.
