I'm a man and I admit the scene in Creation where Charles Darwin's daughter died had me streaming with tears.

Pfft. Star Trek is the last movie I recall going to in a long time that didn't make me cry.

OTOH, I almost never cried over books. I just teared up with one recently, though... that slippery slope has got me now...

Movies that made me cry:
"The Sound of Music": Julie Andrews and those damn kids wouldn't stop singing, why didn't the Nazis shoot them?
"Jaws": The shark didn't get Richard Dreyfuss!

I try to avoid tear jerker movies and books. Life is sad enough without seeking it out in entertainment.

That said, I bawled like a baby at the end of How Green Was My Valley (book not movie).

I haven't read the book (yet) but film of The Road left me feeling emotionally drained and teary. Which almost never happens.

One of my most vivid memories of my father is of him laughing his head off at me as I cried my eyes out while watching a movie on tv. (It was about Beau Brummell and starred Stewart Granger.) This was many, many years ago.

Just last year a Harlequin romance had me in tears - Anything for Danny. It was about an estranged couple and their son who had leukemia.

I'm more inclined to cry in private than in public.

I stay far, far away from those kind of shows. I'm really sensitive about animals. Even that commercial with Sarah McGlaughlin (spelling?) singing, and it's something about sending money to some animal rescue foundation. I cry like a baby. I have to turn it off.

Now I find myself crying, not only during movies and whilst reading books, but while watching commercials on TV and reading posts here at MR.

Ahh, I can blame it on age then. Seems more and more makes me cry. Especially reading my bank book after being out of work for so long. Movies it depends - apart from 'From here to Eternity' that gets me everytime at the same scenes. Movies with animals get me too so I avoid them. Books depend usually, but have been known to water me up too.

And my money is on the kitty, not the hyena
