I am drinking an Old Tom gin martini. Old Tom is a gin which has been reconstructed from an 1800's recipe. Allegedly, it is the gin that the original martini is made from. "Gin martini" is redundant. Those things with vodka are not martinis. I think vermouth improves gin, and corrupts vodka. Vodka needs to be taken straight, IMHO.

I'm not a blended scotch fan - but I'll certainly take it if offered. I do like some of the single malts. Laghroaig for example. I like the smokey peat taste. But Oban when I want something cooperative and not assertive.
