interesting, another poster in the same openrce forum mentioned above has created a script that he claims removes drm from topaz files

Well, let's try to keep it off the front page this time. I'd hate for it to actually work and then Amazon come up with something even MORE obfuscating.

That would be great if true and it works. Also, that it is easy to use.

JSWolf says it doesn't work. I do find it encouraging that someone is at least trying, though.

Yeah, but he's confusing two different scripts as were the guys on DR's blog.

There is an initial stab at de-topazing, but it's not complete.

I posted an update version of skindle (04) that handles both mobi and topaz files. It has an option to output decompressed topaz files if you want to have a clearer view of the file format. Please dig through the thread at openrce for my update

When I start up skindle it shows up, then disappears. Am I doing something wrong. I installed cygwin because at first it told me cygwin1.dll was missing.

EDIT: Nevermind. I ran it with the command prompt and it worked great. Thanks.

skindle version 5 is available, see the openrce thread referenced above. Changes to command line args and now takes PIDs on the command line, so may work with other kindle files as long as you know the pid
