I would also advise not to take me. I tried to read "Red Mars" but I had to stop, just the idea of spending months shut in a spaceship with 99 other people, and then years on a settlement in the middle of nowhere with said people, made me sick

It seems the limitation of a few hundred people is because of limited room aboard the ship. The advanced civilization may have the ability to extract the souls out of all the people and animals on earth and then store them in a suspended form. Upon arrival to the new home planet, the advanced beings could then re-animate the souls back into appropriate bodies of energy or matter. I guess it is good to travel light; especially at light speed!

Anyone named Bob. (I saw a science program that says the current human race descended from a group of only a few hundred hominids..based on genetics...interesting stuff) |

Its a sci fi story, sweetpea. I haven't finished it yet, and plan to start over because now I have no clue when I'll be able to hunker down and read without interrruption. dammit!! The people who make headlines, the ones who make life miserable, yes. But think....we have voices like Celtic women, Andre Bocelli, Michael Crawford. We have composers like Mannheim Steamroller and Transiberian Orchestra (just off the top of my head.) We have people like Marc, and you, and others here on MobileRead. We have minds that can conceive of worlds never imagined, and put them on paper so that we can all share. and.....We have our children, the future in waiting.
