If you consider how many hours it's going to take anyone to read it, even $18 is a pretty low price to pay per hour of reading.

look for : "The Story Behind the Cover" Looks like it was King idea. I guess that nobody found the guts to tell him it sucked. It look like something that a self published author could have designed by himself. I like the "collector edition" cover better.

Btw, is this book based in any way on the Simpson movie? The story plot does look the same. |

I have a question. I don't mean it as a criticism. I'm just curious. Why do people pre-order ebooks? It's not like they're going to sell out or you'll have to wait. Personally, I always get samples and buy the book when I'm done even with an author I like.

I rarely do that. However, at $9 this one was a no brainer for me. I knew it would have to go up eventually. Now, when I wake up Christmas Eve or Morning,....it will be there. Not that I'll start reading it immediately...'sigh. The price for the Amazon ebook version is already back up to $9.99. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?ur...rds=&x=10&y=24

Is there anywhere doing a pre-order of Under the Dome as an ebook for devices other than the Kindle?

People pre-order ebooks for the same reason they pre-order hardbacks. They want the book ready and waiting when it's released, or they want the deal that's being offered for pre-ordering.

If I'm certain I want a book then I will pre-order it. That way I don't have to remember what day the book is going to be released. For example, I just received the latest Morganville Vampire book. It is book 6 or 7 in the series, and I liked the previous books in the series, but I wasn't so excited about the book that I was going to remember the release date. Pre-ordering worked great.

With this one I saw it actually hit $9 as a pre-order and decided to pull the trigger because I didn't figure it would get much cheaper any time soon, and if anything would be likely to increase in price, which I see now that it has, to $9.99.
