ha! We had a ferret once-- dh remembering it being so easy to raise a ferret. Turns out, his brother informed me that dh didnʻt do any of the training, he just came home on vacations! So we had a ferret who pooped in every corner of our house. He was so naughty! We gave him back and got an iguana instead. |

it reminds me of the hamster dance which was TOTALLY rocking! I used to load that on the computer on ski mornings, blasting it as loud as I could to get my girls out the door. it also engaged the silly factor which was good as such early mornings could certainly bring out the cranky if you weren't careful

I think we just didnʻt have the proper training to be ferret parents. I think we ended up having a passive aggressive type relationship!

Yeah, you can't be passive aggressive when training a ferret. You have to pluck them up right as you see them going to the corner and set them down in their litterbox. In some cases holding them there until they do their business. With any luck they'll eventually get the hint.

We use to have a ferret. Well, actually, it was a rat. Pretty much the same thing, I think, except rats are more sociable. It began its life with us as something we purchased to be food for my daughter’s snake. There was something different about this rat, however. At the store, when I reached into the cage, instead of running, it just kind of looked at me like, “Well, hello there, fella’ – where are we going today?” On the way home, we made a pit stop, and my daughter and her friend decided to examine the rat more closely. It was quite happy to be out of the box, and immediately proceeded to make friends with them. Before we got home, it had a name, and as anyone knows, you can’t feed someone with a name to a snake. It’s just not right. Poor Polly, the ball python, had to go hungry that day. Tasha (the rat) was amazing. We had two cats at the time. One must have been a relative of Garfield’s, because he immediately struck up a friendship with the thing. They even slept together whenever they could. The other cat was not so accommodating and would chase the rat. The rat was much smarter than this cat however. (She was a remarkably stupid cat; everyone said so.) The cat would chase Tasha under the sofa, and then while waiting for her to reappear, Tasha would slip out from behind the sofa and sneak up behind the cat. When she got close enough, she would jump on the cat’s tail and run. The cat would jump straight up in the air and freak plum out every time! That dummy never caught on. We ended up giving the rat to the girl my then teenage son was dating at the time. Last edited by WT Sharpe; 11-08-2009 at 11:36 PM. |
