I'm thinking all it's going to handle is eReader, PDF and the image file types for screensavers. I also don't see any sort of folder support - Can you imagine scrolling through a 1500 book collection? Ouch. Otherwise, it's great, though. Like the SD card option, like the look. I even like the name! Probably won't replace an Archos 9 on my wishlist, but I'll definitely go do a hands on once they're in stores.

If it wasn't all those companies would go bankrupt. Just have a look. There are quite a few of those importers doing a *very* brisk business. This is why we grumble so much about prices in Europe / Australia / UK / South America / NZ / [insert your location here] in comparison with US prices. Even after paying for: 1. fee for proxy company for use or their Credit Card with USA billing address 2. warehousing and handling fee 3. transportation goods 4. high Value Added Tax 5. customs 6. [bribes] ;-) You can still very often buy electronics / fashion / photo equipment / jewellery / sports goods / car parts considerably cheaper. (You can also buy cars very cheap, but if you think that buying a Reader is hassle, try to find out what hoops they make you jump in EU when you want to import a car individually purchased in USA) |

Some other things gleaned from the web site: 16 level gray scale 2GB internal memory. External memory card support. Free sample ebooks 3G wireless and WiFi to buy/dl ebooks from B&N Claimed 10 day battery life with wireless off Customize with your own screen save photos Lend ebooks to friends free of charge 5 font sizes easily bookmark, highlight, and make notes as you go. $259 Preorder now. The navigation doesn't look too organized... not sure if you can do more than just scroll through a bunch of ebook covers. Very interesting though. The video doesn't show how to take notes... I assume they put a keyboard on the touch screen? Who's getting one? BOb |

From the FAQ: "Nook supports all eBooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers sold at Barnes & Noble.com. You can also load many other files, including MP3s and PDFs, as well as ePub and PDB files."

Although I suspect it does NOT support Adobe DRM but only B&N (ereader) DRM. If that is what you meant? BOb | |
