				PRS-600 Battery Life

Someone else mentioned recently that their PRS-600 died overnight, but I can't find that topic - I just wanted to mention that the same thing happened to me. After fully charging my PRS-600 when I first got it, the charge lasted almost 2 weeks (including short bursts of charging when it was being updated). Then I recharged it overnight with my PSP charger; full bars, no red light. When I used it, however, I noticed that it seemed to be losing charge faster than before and, sure enough, it went from 2 bars to stone dead last night. I'm charging it via USB this time to see if it makes a difference. |

You need to kill the battery then fully charge the device a few times to 'calibrate' the power meter. I was getting very short life at first but after a few full charging sessions my 600 will last almsot 2 weeks. Charging via usb will take longer but will probably give you the same results. I prefer using my PSP charger. |

The only time that my PRS-600 has nearly died overnight is when I leave it plugged into my computer's USB and absentmindedly turn my computer off. It leaves the PRS-600 in a state where it appears to be charging, but it stays on all night and nearly drained my battery.

600 battery is fine. It will absolutely NOT die if unless you keep pressing some button all the time.

Really? So no one else is having to charge it at least twice as often as the 505? I'm back down to one bar today. I had 3 last night. It got a charge on Monday. |

Have you been using the touch screen a lot? That certainly increases power consumption.

nope I tend to use the buttons when reading. I only use the touchscreen for making the odd note or for the dictionary.

Welp, I don't know if that's the case or not, but charging it via USB seems to have created a "longer lasting" charge - I'll have to alternate between the two modes for a bit - maybe there's something about the PSP charger that causes a less complete charge.

I've only had my reader for a little over a week, but I was surprised after reading for only a few hours that my battery had gone to half full. I'll charge and drain a few times to see if that helps.

I use a PSP adaptor at work, and USB at home. It got charged yesterday so had 4 bars last night on my way home and when I went to get it this afternoon... "No Battery". So it's now had several hours on USB to recharge :-/ |

Do check that you haven't accidentally left the MP3 player on. This drains the battery very quickly. |
