Hmmm, let me see.......The fact that Bookeen is telling us for more than a year now that the new firmware is almost ready...... Or the fact that there are a set of French Guiney pigs who have a beta-version of the new firmware on their old cybook for three months already..... But then again, those are of course just mere hints and you have to be at least a little optimistic to think they can still pull it of.... |

Well, if they decided some time ago that releasing any reflash firmware is too risky, and in the future to update only Cybooks they have received, they wouldn't just tell anyone, would they?

Hmmm, maybe my Gen3 shortly will be broken and I should send it in, just in case ... now, where did I put this hammer?

Yes, I'll stipulate the process might be a wee bit painful to the Bookeen employee of your choice, but I'm sure the message WILL be received and understood.) Derek

NOT to worry. I have emailed Bookeen and expressed my *extreme* displeasure in their firmware update strategy. We should be getting the updates "any day now". Derek |

For those not afraid to take a small loss, maybe we could have a steady eBay campaign, say two or three per week with a starting bid at 65% of the EU/US prices, or higher, just as long as we undercut the new ones sold by Bookeen. If they don't sell, we lose nothing. We could email links to Bookeen. Richard |

No, these days I'm pretty sure I have about as much "pull" with Bookeen as the crawdad sittin' in the crick near where a'm a-sittin'. Derek

				BeBook next?

After looking at BeBook's changelog, I'm fairly close to selling up: http://mybebook.com/a11/Downloads/article_info.html They've had both epub DRM and Mobi DRM firmwares since February, and multiple epub fixes since then as well as the BeBook Mini product launch. They must have more hamsters than Bookeen. Richard |
