well that's a bit silly, what's the talk page for then ?

i've added a link in the article to the french wikipedia page which lists liseuse used in this way.

nate, perhaps you should add a couple of links to blogs directly in the article ?

no, i meant ironic because "ereader" is arguably a made-up word, whereas "liseuse" is actually a real word which has existed probably for centuries.

That too. In a normal conversation, I always say I'm reading such and such book. Only when they ask if they can borrow the book (or any reference to a physical presence of the book) do I mention I read electronically.

i say "liseuse" when i'm talking about the device. it's not necessarily relevant when i'm talking about what i'm reading.

Generally speaking, the talk page is often used for arguing what should and should not be in the article.

hm, so what about links to blogs / articles using the word ? should those go in the article, or in the talk page ? (i've never edited wikipedia before, i suppose you can tell... )

also, how do you contest the deletion ? is there something (other than editing the article) we should do ?

Even worse. Somebody at some time in history decided to roll some dice then, to form a word... (no keyboars centuries aga!). And now you're recycling that word?

A word should have one meaning. Not several. So, electronic reader (short: ereader) is perfect. Lisuse is not.

Just thinking about that and I would bet that the majority of nouns in the English language have more than one meaning.

maybe not the majority but a very high proportion. see homograph.

examples :
shift n. (a change)
shift n. (a period at work)
shift v. (to move quickly)

hey nate, the guy who wants to delete the article has replied on the talk page that he still sees no reason for an article separate from the one called "ebook reader". maybe you can suggest merging the two articles ? you could add the text of the "liseuse" page to the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-book_reader page and explain it's a synonym. since there is already a page about the devices it does make sense to keep them together. his main argument is that there is not enough use of the word in english, but... english evolves.
