It was funny, the first thing he did when he got in was stalled the State for 10 days until he got the budget approved....he was shooting for 8% and got the 7% approved with surprisingly little complaint. Then he was going to try to allow gas stations to go Self Serve and he got so many letters he booted that idea. Amazing peoples priorities, eh?

Compared to my county, I would love to have a 7% sales tax. Cook county in Illinois is 10%.

Strange; Sony Rewards says the black PRS-600 is "No Longer Availible" and has removed it from te READER listings. Silver and Red are still there.

I have cancelled my SonyStyle order - despite the readers being listed as in stock at the time I ordered on Monday and despite the encouraging order I received the next day indicating the order had been forwarded to shipping and I should expect it to go out within 1-2 days nothing happened. Called today and they told me it would be the third week of September!!!! I told him to forget it and immediately went internet surfing. Ordered one supposedly in stock red one from NCIX so hopefully this will be more successful. Because I wanted red I had to pay for shipping

but because I don't live in BC I didn't have to pay BC sales tax

so it all washes about evenly. They said if I ordered before 1pm PDT it would likely get here the next business day if I lived in a major city centre so fingers crossed for Tuesday.

ETA: NCIX just sent me an email confirming my order has shipped!!

Yes. Corzine raised the sales tax from 6% to 7% on July 15, 2006. However, there also areas in NJ called UEZs (Urban Enterprize Zones) that charges only 3.5% sales tax. Some Target stores, Staples, Pathmark, and a number of other 'Anchor' stores are located in UEZs.

I preordered one at Borders. First they told me I would get in early August, now they are saying mid September. Everybody's getting them, including parts of Europe. Where's mine! Well, I called Borders today, cancelled the order, and purchased a silver one from Abt, who has them in stock (origionally wanted a red one. But, the silver is probably more suitable as it is less distracting while reading). I purchased it without a charge for shipping or sales tax. They confirmed it will ship out Tuesday morning, as this is a holiday, but 4 day delivery will get it here Friday or Saturday. I have read complaints about clarity, but as no device is perfect, that is why I have more than one. I have a 505 for easy reading. For serious stuff requiring the annotations, I have used my 700. The 600 will replace my 700 with even better clarity and a dictionary and hand writing recognition I have missed since getting rid of my beloved ebw 1150 which did not always handle pdf's well for me. I'll be so glad to get it finally, because I am so tired of waiting and waiting and...

Interesting. I recall Elizabeth having 3% sales tax, but outside of Jersey Gardens and Ikea, there weren't any other places that I wanted to shop.
