Oh right, now maybe I remember it being called a banana spider. Lots and lots of furry hair on it, about 6 inches across. Does that sound like a banana spider?

Love 'em. Cute little guys. Also the translucent geckos (if that's what they are) that rapidly shimmy across the ground or up the wall and also eat lots of nasty bugs. Hurrah for the bug eaters!

They are adorable, aren't they? They are just so lizardish busy all day long doing lizardly things, like pushups and displaying the neck flap. So serious about the business of being a lizard!

Yep, that's a banana spider. They're called that because they tend to hitch-hike on big banana shipments...

hm, maybe instead of a bengal tiger i'll get a lizard or twenty. i like lizards. and if they eat the spiders, it's a win for everybody !

That's one of the thing I like about my backyard. My patio is on the north side and mostly in shade except for very early in the morning. In front of the patio are three 1 meter across tubs with water lilies and mosquito fish in them. I get to watch dragonflys and damselflys fly around the water. Along the west side of the patio, shielded by the garage, are two rows of tropical hibiscuses, always blooming. Lizards are running around in them, being lizards. On the other side, in full sun are the orange plants, growing oranges...Roses in the backdrop...Throw in the occasional butterfly...

Ahhh, that sounds so peaceful, how do you ever get any reading done? I would be asleep as soon as the bumblebees started droning.

Listening to traffic that has been detoured down our street because they are filming parts of a movie based on Margaret Clitherow (The pearl of York) just a block away. I have never heard of her before.

Well, this *is* Hollywood north and they can make anything look like anything. My area of the city is quaint, but not as quaint as 16th century England.
