INteresting, I ordered the light pink one which they claim to be instock, but after 4 days (3 if count UK) no email from them and my email ask them for eta will soon reach 48 hours. I guess i am too pushy. But Some computers games i brought a day after I brought the COOLer, also from UK has already been dispatched. Just curious as I was under the impression with posts here, they ship them fast!

 ugh

Well I managed to bust my Cool-er... again. Not sure what happened, I went to connect it to my computer tonight and got that same issue where the screen got stuck on the grey scale gradient page, which is the same issue that happened previously. *mutters darkly* Amy |

Sounds to me like the Cool-er firmware is not quite ready for prime time.

 yeah

Yeah I am not sure what is going on with the software inside of the Cool-er but it obviously having an issue. Its odd that even resetting it with the reset button won't fix the issue. I am a really heavy reader so I imagine that the problems that I am having wouldn't show up for months possibly longer with the average user who doesn't read 5 or more books a week. Well at least I still have my trusty little EB1150. I wish they would come out with an updated one of those! Amy |

Time to send back the Cool-er and get a nice new PRS-600 that actually works.

OK Cooler owners.. if there are still any... They just released their FIRST update. The generic NTX reader gets upgraded: The single best thing added IS: Font size change with the once useless volume bottons! The self turn off function finally works, (it does not in 1.11) Other changes are minor, however I think since NTX reader is still in its infancy, we should write to Cooler and ask them to press the ebook maker (ODM) Netronix to add new useful functions! I will give Cooler and Netronix a chance. I look forward for bigger 9 inch reader next with more functions. |

In this case Netronix is not ODM, but OEM

 update

The CS person that emailed me did mention that they were working on the first software update. Though unfortantly it would not fix the issue that I was having. Its good to know that it was released. It seems to me that Interead is trying really hard to make everything go smoothly, good CS and releasing an update relatively quickly. The Cool-er website shows that their readers are out of stock. Hopefully this means that they are selling well. I really did like my Cool-er. Amy |

The instructions are contained inside the downloadable full menu at the specs page. The following is off my memory based on my own upgrade (Must mention: i don't take responsibility, if things did not work out!!!) First: Backup all books on the COOLER's memory. Then: Download n extract the big zip file, copy what is IN THE FOLDER (all the smaller folders N file) across to an empty SD card. next: insert SD card. Important part: It may require two person to start this update. It requires user to PRESS N HOLD the second last of the four left shoulder button (third if count from the top) plus the CEnter button of the control wheel. WITH These two buttons pressed, plug in the USB cable connect the COOLER to a PC. NExt: is to WAIT for something to happen: Cooler will start up but you can't release what you are pressing until some japanese animation pictures shows up (Silly). So: After you saw the first anime picture changed, you can release the buttons. Finally: The upgrade ends with some sort of thrumbs up pic with chinese and the word GOOD on it (again, silly, the software writers don't seem to take presentation seriously enough this time around.), confirm the top right LED is not blinking, Unplug the cooler. press power button and if cooler does not restart itself in 2 minutes, press the reset at the back. Good luck and write to them to press them for more functions you think NTX should add to future upgrades. cheers

Netronix's reader software has a long way to go. The biggest issue was its ability to read pdf with pictures and unable to zoom on pictures. I like it for how light it is, I can hold it up right in bed with one hand continously, something i can't do with a thick book...
