The 505 is no longer available at SonyStyle.

as a 700 User. I have never picked up and been unable to read due to contrast or glare, though those issues are there, they don't affect readability.

we might be jumping the gun here. it says in the PR "A high contrast ratio with 16 levels of grayscale ensures that text and images are crisp and easy to read. "
wouldn't that make the contrast better then 700 & 600? btw, 600 is 8 levels of grayscale right? |

Did Sony announce a date for the availability of their version 3.0 library software?

It looks like the only thing going for the new device is library support. Anyone else see features they really like?

If the Daily and Touch screens are the same width, the Daily might have a 600x1024 screen (vs the standard 6" 600x800), both at 167 ppi. I wonder if it is made by PVI, which has not advertised this size screen so far as I know.

Waterstones UK are advertising the Sony Reader Pocket and Touch editions at £179.99 and £249.99 to include a free copy of Dan Brown's "The Lost Symbol". They have not got the Daily Edition up yet.

I know. Lucky us 505 owners huh. But the Reader Pocket is the same thing as the 505 without storage card slots and it comes 50 dollars cheaper than the 505 used to be. In my opinion, that's the most solid device Sony has in the new line they've brought out.

I do think the library access feature is huge. This "e-borrowing" feature is gonna hit Amazon where it hurts IMO. I heard a guy on a train yesterday showing his Kindle to a couple of friends -- So-o-o-o cool that he can downlad free previews of books. Uh-huh. ![]() ![]() ![]() Still not inclined to buy the Daily Reader when available--don't need wireless. I'm leaning towards the Pocket 300 (portability and clarity are key for me.) Will check one out in person this week, I hope. |
