Ugh...another one.

I'd not mind 6" screens at all if they didn't have these big bezels and gameboy/old-school ipod grip areas on the bottom. Oh and if e-ink didn't suck so much. But since we can't make e-ink suck less anytime soon, I hope companies start figuring out form factors with less wasted space, rather than keeping the wasted space and trying to dress it up. At least Sony's touchscreen model tries to hide it somewhat (not very successfully, but at least they try).

This may come as a shock to some people, but batteries, CPUs, motherboards and card readers take up space too. A reader is not just a screen with a metal/plastic case.

And the screen must be protected from being torqued accidentally. This requires a substantial bezel.

Agreed. But there are more alternatives, like what kid of battery you use.

I'd like to see a device with a bulge on the bottom back, or right back (to grip), and most of this bulge houses the battery. The top of the bulge houses the sd card slot and the bottom, perhaps, will house the earphone jack.

The actual WIDTH and LENGTH of the device can then be shortened to give just enough support to keep the screen stable.

I don't see a real need for ultra thin devices. Especially for something that you have to hold onto for longer periods. Hand muscle fatigue/cramps.

Making excuses seems to be a popular secondary hobby of a lot of ebook reader users.

Yes, the battery, controller, and other things take up space. They take up space on a touchscreen phone and PDA too, and in just about any portable media player device and tablet PC. Of course, books have to be super-thin in order to be viable in a marketplace...so we can't make them pudgy.

Then there's the cushioning/protection thing...and how about "you need a place to hold it!"

And whinging about the same things over and over seems to be a popular secondary hobby of other ebook reader users.

So what?

Liseuse-users = Liseusers (ha.. made up another word!! I claim it! it's mine!!)

Liseusers are very outspoken and and adamant with their own personal preference, be it format, design, or manufacturer. We will all try our damnedest to convert others to our way of thinking. Some will succeed, some will fail, but we'll always try
