				PDF Document Names

Hi everyone. I've had my reader for a few weeks and I want to use it partly for storing and reading PDF documents for my work. I am finding that I cannot change the name of the PDF docs from the original name they were given. So if I us 'save as' and change the name the doc transfers to the reader with its original name. I hope that makes sense!! Can anyone explain or help. Thanks G |

Welcome to MobileRead, Grahame66. I hope you'll get lots of usefull advice here. I am not sure I've fully understood what your problem is. In case you need to change PDFs metadata check this out: BeCyPDFMetaEdit It's a powerfull free tool (mentioned in several threads in MR) which allows you to change author, title, and a few other things in PDF files. Welcome to MobileRead, Grahame66! I don't know much about pdf files so I'm afraid I can't help, but I did want to give you a proper welcome. There are many members here who work with pdf's and will be along to help, I am sure. Good luck. Happy Reading! |

Grahame66, The filename of the PDF isn't what shows in the Reader, unless the metadata is blank. You can find out what title is listed in the metadata by opening the PDF in the Adobe Reader, going to the File menu, and selecting Properties. The Description tab has the Title, Author, Subject and Key Words--that title & author are what will show up in the Sony Reader. You can edit them with a program like BeCyPDFMetaEdit, as suggested by Kostas, or with Acrobat Professional (but not the Adobe Reader). If the PDFs were created from Word documents, that metadata can be set in the Word document (under File-->Properties in Word), and it'll transfer to PDF when they're made. |
