			So have you decided yet?

You realise you're going to have to take photos when you've finished, don't you! I'm getting excited at a distance - it's down to years of living in rented places with cream walls. The flat I'm in at the moment is magnolia with highlights of white. One day I'll have a place I can decorate and I'll get into DIY! |

Ti-hi! Yeah, I'm pretty excited too, but after painting, the rest will be a work in progress - I have no money whatsoever, so everything will be DIY, flea market sales and garbage finds. I will post pics when I'm done painting, I swear, but don't expect something grand!

I understand the boringness of living in rented places, it's been the same for me. I'm so lucky the new landlord doesn't mind - plus, he pays the paint! ![]() While we're in the decorating business, anyone has DIY tricks? Dreams gave me a few good ones, including having poetry printed on fabric, then frame it (I'm soooo doing that!), but it's always fun to hear about what other people do! |

I'm not a DIY expert, but I have lived by myself for a long time, and I got to a point where I wanted to do things myself rather than having to ask people all the time. I wasn't very practical when I was younger, but now love the feeling of achievement when I can see something I've done.

My "best buys" include a set of shelves, cheap to start with and reduced because of a scratch or something, and cost about £8, and a tin of varnish/wood stain that had been dented and cost about £3. When I'd screwed the shelves together I varnished them, and they look pretty good. I channel my DIY interests into the garden or cooking at the moment, and combine them by growing vegetables

Well, I actually meant paint ball gun, but now that I think of it, it would be a whole lot more fun than using a roller and brushes.

![]() Ok, I'll put some pics of the apartment right before I moved in, so careful to your eyes, it's awfully pink: That's the librairy: left and back walls will be Tar Brown, right wall beige, middle section beige too. Now living room: Left and back wall stem green, right wall beige, middle section beige. And, to fit in the beautiful purple, I'll paint the lower half of the corridor Summer Plum! Ta-da!! This should be interesting! Warning: epiphanies in the CatWorld are always subjected to change. |

Done for now! Still have to decorate, but it's a work in progress.

The only color from the poll I actually used was Summer Plum on half a wall in the corridor: Then for the lounge and the living room, I used, combined with the beige I had, a brown called Caramiline in French, but I forgot the name in English ( ) Those turquoise chairs I really want to reupholster, probably with a navy blue fabric...And the now famous orange carpeted round reading chair (with requisited cat and a ton of cat hair (just did not predicted it!)): |

It looks wonderful, Cat! And the orange chair works perfectly.

The turquoise chairs work, too, although colors tend to be off in pictures and you would know better. I've done a little (very little) reupholstering but can manage to make window coverings, pillows, etc. One of these days, I'm going to tackle upholstering something (maybe one of the dogs ).
