				Way too excited Newbie!!!

			Hi all!

I am very new to your forums and have been spending the last several days reading and learning. Thanks for the great info!! I am so excited! I am ready to take the plunge for a PRS 505. I actually just filled out a credit card form at buy.com that will give me $30 dollars off and I am impatiently waiting for my email "answer" and my promo code. WHY CAN'T THOSE THINGS BE INSTANTANEOUS INSTEAD OF TAKING AN HOUR.... LOL Promo will get me into the silver or blue for 238 shipped. (Use the promo and toss the credit card.....lol). Not too bad from what I have seen. Now I just have to choose a color. I love electronics...female junkie here...lol, so silver just seems a little more "techno" to me, but on the other hand I suffer from migraines and the optical illusion one gets with the blue making text seem "crisper" less "eye strain" seems logical. I have read the posts on color preferences and they seem to range all over the board. Get what you like. All you seasoned PRS owners out there can you give me an honest blue or silver opinion as far as "visual acuity"? Now to go stare at my inbox for that promo code. Thanks

I personally prefer the blue, even though I have the silver. I get migraines, too, and sometimes the silver is too "bright" for my eyes. I'm sure you'll love your new reader, no matter what color you choose. |

I've only seen the silver 505 so I can't really comment on the difference between blue and silver, but I can say that I've never had any problems with it. I get headaches when I spend too long using a computer screen but find reading an eInk display to be very much more like a paper book. Good luck with the promo code - we can all sympathise with the wait to get your hands on your new device! I'm sure whichever 505 you get you'll love it. Just realised, should add that my silver 505 spends most of its time in a pink case so I don't see much silver! |

And if you want to snazz it up a bit, check out this store on etsy (looks like most of the super cute stuff is gone and she hasn't posted any in a while, but if you shoot her an email I bet she'd make one). I've got two of these and I love them: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6257799 (Take a look at the previously sold items for the other patterns) |

I was lucky enough to be able to choose between the silver and blue. I even went into a SonyStyle store to take a look at both and then went home and ordered the blue one. A decision I've never regretted. Even though Sony came out with red, if I was choosing today, my choice would still be blue!

I had the options of all three colours, but decided on the silver. It's just more stylish than the blue*. I like that the light grey, matte finish blends in well with the screen itself - the text stands out, and the device slides into the background of one's attention. It's a 'book', not a 'device'.

*Then I bought the decidedly non-stylish bubble-gum pink cover.... |

I hope I am wrong about the promo, but I did the same thing last year, $30 off when using a Buy.com card, but I couldn't use the $30 on the reader (silver) because it wasn't through buy.com but a seller on buy.com. It was $279 through a vendor (I don't remember which) with free shipping. I ended up using the $30 to get a PCIe video card for nothing... so it all worked out in the end.

Hi constroy and welcome to MobileRead. Only good looking people get the blue. Silver owners, OTOH, have the blues. So you can't go wrong.

Actually, I got the blue because it was a window display on sale for 40% off. At that price, I'd have taken orange. Truth is, I think you'd be happy with either color. |

			Hello constroy, and

Lady Blue here. I have a SILVER Sony. I was used to reading on the black Sony 500 before that and liked the contrast. When I got my silver Sony, there was no other choice and I didn't think I'd like it much because of lack of contrast. I was wrong. I love it, find it easy on the eyes, good contrast, and the silver frame doesn't glare at all. It's classy and rich looking. Never regretted having the silver one for a minute. |

Constoy--Welcome to the forum! I don't think you could go wrong with either a blue or silver (or for that matter, red) reader. Like Lady Blue--when I got my reader, the silver was the only one available to me. I'm very happy with it. I think if I were purchasing again and I had a choice, I'd still go with the silver. For some reason, I just like the looks of it. Although, I do like the red one too.
