Hi everyone!

Sorry for my long radio silence, but I had to keep quiet during negotiations. But now they're over and I can make a big announcement.

Simon and Schuster's Touchstone imprint will be publishing The Ark and the second novel in the Tyler Locke adventure series! I'm so excited! The Ark will come out in hardcover in the US and Canada in 2010. In addition, the rights to The Ark have been sold in seven foreign markets, including the UK, Germany, and Italy. We're still working on possible deals for The Palmyra Impact and The Adamas Blueprint, but I will make sure those are in readers hands again at some point.

Thanks to everyone here for their kind words and their support. I know it made a difference, and it's quite an honor that so many of you took the time to read the books of an unknown author like me.

Let me know if you have any questions, and I'll tell you what I can. I look forward to getting to work on my next Tyler Locke thriller. Thanks again!

...but 2010... bummer! What takes so long to print a book? I assume there will be some tweaking and editing... but wow.

You didn't mention anything about ebook formats? Don't they have their own ebook store (I'm thinking Star Trek books here)?

Some editing yes, but mostly the reason for the lengthy time span is because there are only a certain number of spaces in book stores, so they need to find a slot that's not already filled by John Grisham, Janet Evanovich, and other established bestsellers. Plus it takes time to get the marketing machine cranked up.

Simon and Schuster/Touchstone and my foreign publishers all have the electronic rights, so I'll be working with them to figure out how to do the e-book releases.

Well done - it's good to hear someone we 'know' (or at least know of!) has got a contract! I suspect 2010's pretty fast too, as it's only 6 to 18 mths!

Just out of curiosity, do you have any indication if it was just a matter of finally getting the manuscript to the right person at the right time, or if they'd been following the ebooks, e.g. the Kindle bestseller lists, or a combination?

Thanks, Gwyn! I think it was a fortuitous combination of factors. I already had an agent who is well-known in NY publishing circles, so when my books did well on the Kindle bestseller lists, she had new information to share when she started sending it to editors again. She could also point to the great Amazon reviews my books were getting and the blurbs I'd received from bestselling authors like James Rollins and Douglas Preston. Then as you said, it was a matter of finding an editor enthusiastic about my work, which I was lucky enough to find.
