calibre 0.6 betas now available

with beta 9 i cannot transfer news to the device. the error i get is:

With respect to the PDB problem with no generated TOC, I've had a similar problem if the <navMap> has a namespace declaration like this:

<navMap xmlns="">

Removing the attribute makes my TOC be generated correctly.

You cannot suppress generation of a TOC, it is needed for the calculation of indexing information for the MOBI file.

Then maybe it is possible to hide it somehow? Or at least, put it to the end of ePub file? Please, fix it ASAP!

Ah, ok. Not a big deal. A TOC at the end (how it currently appears on CBZ -> MOBI) is something I can live with. I'm assuming there's a way to have a chapter every X pages? The default is 1 page = 1 chapter, which makes for a long TOC...

The blank page after every page is more of an issue, as soon as that one's fixed I can switch to my DX for comics! =)

I think the reason for that is the 5-way stick isn't doing "next page" but is either doing "move cursor right" in which case the next piece of content is selected (skipping the blank page) or it's doing "next chapter" and since each image defaults to being a chapter, the blank page (which is not flagged as a chapter) gets skipped over.

But using the stick sounds like a good temporary workaround until the blank page issue is fixed. =)

@GRiker Thanks for the info, Kovid fixed this problem in beta 9

@Kovid: Have you had a chance to look at the PDF. If you load it with Adobe the screen is tiny and looks blank. However if you load the book in the sony PRS or the eLibraray software you actually see the PDF. It's upside down and very tiny. (with no page breaks or bookmarks)

Also there is some weirdness with the ePUB.

With Adobe ePUB the ePUB files look great, no problems with them. However loading them with the eLibrary or the PRS-505

I get thick margins giving the text only about 1/2" reading space and there are two pages that are inserted at the beginning of the eBook that should not be there.
I believe it's the meta data that is showing on these two pages.

Is there already defect reports written for these issues? If not I'll write them.

kovidgoyal, Tried the new calibre - it is awesome! I do have an issue when trying to embed images when converting from txt to lrf. I took the example located in http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/downloads/txt-demo.zip and tried to drag the text file into calibre and convert it to lrf - image missing. Then I tried to use ebook-convert.exe to get it directly into lrf - image missing again. Any idea how I can overcome it?

Unfortunately, you haven't fixed the problem with turning TOC creation off (or putting it at the end of the book, at least)
Some of my books have lots of notes and chapters and they are ALL (!) created in the TOC. So I have to scroll them all way down. Please, fix that problem ASAP. Otherwise, thanks a lot for your great software!
