Yes. We knew the kittens came from someones home because they were not feral and even at about 7 weeks they took to being handled very well. As I said Willow was 10 when I brought Hammy home. She has always been a calm dog and simply let Hammy climb all over her. Being a cat, Hammy believes the world belongs to him and Will was put there to play with him.

Now at almost 4 and 20lbs Hammy is a bit too rough on Willow, who is 35lbs. He's part Maine Coon by the look of him and his size. I have a Youtube site with a few little movies of them when hammy was a kitten if any of you would like to see.

I can think of a lot of words to describe Hammy and sweet is not one of them. I guess I was asking for it when I named him Hamilton Marious Murray.

Like any mother, I forgive all his faults. You would not be so kind if you knew him. My brother thinks he's a spoiled rotten sh*thead.

heh. most of my friends roll their eyes at me about my cats too. i particularly love when they say "what do you mean, you can't leave tonight for the weekend, because you have no-one to take care of your cats ? they can stay alone for 3 days, surely ?" and i stare at them in shock and horror.

I live in Atlanta but most of my family is 900 miles away in New Jersey. Once a year I put my babies into the car and we have a road trip. Hammy has just finished his 3rd trip. Will has done it 11 times. I skipped 2 years because I was not up to it. Everyone who knows me is aware that I do not leave my dog, cat and chinchilla behind. A friend at work takes care of my Betta, Walter, and my other fish get a 2 week feeder.

I have 3 forever kitties, 1 forever dog, and 2 foster kittens- mama and baby. All of the forever pets have come from the SPCA or a rescue place. I volunteer at the SPCA, which is how I got the foster kitties. Mama kitty was abandoned while she was pregnant, and brought to SPCA, where she gave birth. When the SPCA employees arrived at work 1 morning, she had given birth to 5 babies, 3 of which died. So I brought Mama and 2 babies home when the babies were 3 days old. Mama came home with a horrible cold and would not eat for the first two weeks I had her. One of her babies caught her cold, and obviously wasn't getting enough to eat, and unfortunately, died too. (Talk about feeling GUILTY!)

BUT...since then, Mama kitty has made a complete turn around. We did antiobiotics for 2 weeks I believe, and FINALLY got her to start eating. She's very feisty and loves attention. Baby kitten is getting BIG, and is approaching 2 pounds, at which point it will be time for her to be spayed, and then go to her forever home (I don't think this kitten will have ANY problems finding a new home. I'd take her in a heartbeat if I could).
And the person who found Mama Kitty and brought to the SPCA had said they want to adopt her, I HOPE that is still true! I do plan to do this again...this has been quite an experience...sometimes frustrating, sometimes sad, but mostly very rewarding. It's gonna be VERY hard to give them back.

I've five furry felines that share the house with me and my husband - Aaron, Silver, Shadow, Squeak and Loki. All of them are rescues in a way. Aaron, Silver and Shadow came from a friend who needed homes for them when she couldn't take care of them. Squeak was a semi-feral kitten that a colleague gave me - she fed his mother in her back garden and captured him for me. Loki was going to be put down by his owner when she couldn't find space for him at the local shelters - I took him in temporarily... so far that's been two years and a 3000 mile move! (I brought all five of my kitties with me when we moved from the UK to the US - I wasn't about to leave my friends behind!)
