As I noted earlier, I could not get HTML or Zip files to show in the books listing. I just edited my post to add that I had the same results with LIT (I forgot to include it originally).

I think HTML would be a very good addition to future firmware. If they improve the mobi and epub support, HTML would almost be a free byproduct. The lack of Zip support is strange, as it is used by epub.

no difference to me really with the flashing, they could make flashing a little bit less tedious, thats a start.

I recieved a reply from Ectaco. They thanked me for my input and said that my suggestions have been added to their development database. Whether this means they'll actually do anything about them is something we'll have to wait and see. The two most important points I made are the lack of CSS support and limited font choice.

It looks like, and only at NewEgg!

Everyone else (at least everyone I've found) is charging $299 too, It looks like they've begun pushing the MSRP. I'd have thought they'd wait until the firmware was out of beta befor they did that!

Wow, I bought the black one just in time then. Just throwing this out there has anyone noticed how the bookmark key changes from 3 to 2 between .txt and mobi files, or my jetbook is special

That is because of the currently missing dictionary support for the epub and mobi formats. A future firmware is supposed to add dictionary support for these new formats.

I received the e-mail from Ectaco support that they will upload a new firmware with dictionary support for all formats on jetbook.net website next week.

Yes, that is the version that I have an early beta of. The dictionary does indeed work with all formats. I am supposed to be getting a later beta version before Ectaco releases the final firmware to the general public. I have been trying to help out by testing this firmware and providing feedback.

Ectaco also told me about a major, new feature that will be in this firmware. I have some idea what this feature is, but not enough detail to comment about it yet. When I get the newer beta, I'll post my findings.

NewEgg still has the black one at $199.99 and the white one at $169.99. I just picked up a white one but so far I am pretty disappointed. I loaded with DRM-free mobi files and there are some odd characters throughout the books. Also the screen is not as easy to read as any of my e-ink ebook readers. The background is alot darker. I haven't decided whether to wait for new firmware or just ebay it now.

Strange. I don't have any problems with Mobi and ePub books. Did you try open the same book via another ebook reader?

Yes, the mobi books work fine on kindle 1 and cybook gen3. By comparing the books on the devices I can see that its the quotes and apostrophes that are giving strange symbols on the jetbook.

Firmware is v0.30i patch v12 so looks like its the latest available.

Checking some of my other mobipocket ebooks, its not all of them but alot of them with this problem.

So doing some more checking I figured out that the character encoding was perhaps not set correctly and the Jetbook is not forgiving of that. I tried converting in calibre and setting the character encoding to utf-8 and fixed one particular book. I have yet to try for the rest my mobipocket books.
