Don't know if this helps at all but someone over here mentioned getting a refurbished sony for $100 - that might be even quicker if you have to save the money for a new one. I've only had mine a few weeks and I'd be so upset if I lost it. |

Oh, Alphapheemail, how devastating! I'm sending a virtual hug and lots and lots of chocolate (dark, of course) your way. I think I would have cried, too. Since it was an auction, I may have even asked that they announce the loss and ask for help from the audience. Did you have it out at some point and someone may have seen it? Or maybe the case size made someone think that it was a netbook? I think I am going to tie mine to my purse when I take it anywhere, especially after the two recent losses on here. There is an offer going on about getting a Sony credit card and then the ereader for $150 plus the refurbished unit idea. Let us know what happens. |

I am SO sorry! I know I would be inconsolable for days, (which would make my family crazy and since "nobody's happy if mama isn't happy", they would probably take up a collection and get me another one ). But seriously, it's a terrible thing to have happened. I hope you are able to get another one soon. Cassidym - Great suggestion about putting your name and contact info on the back. I'm going to do that today. |

ooh, i'm so sorry to hear that ! i would be so upset as well if i lost mine. i really hope you find it somehow, you never know, it could happen, right ? did you check if there's a "lost objects" at the place you were ? i hope you manage to get it back / replace it soon. (what is it with these things ? did they all grow legs suddenly ??? maybe they're all together having a party somewhere. with a little luck, it'll come back, and just have a hangover for a day or so.) |

Another thing I did was create a word document titled 'Owner of this Reader' and moved it into my library and onto my reader. In it I have my name and contact numbers.

nope... I checked. Cuz if that's the case i know many members that would not hesitate in claiming they had theirs stolen to have a back up (I would sure do that !!!) Quote:
@ Ruth, I wish! but unfortunately I can't justify that expense in my budget. I have to start saving lil by lil... ='( @dreams, THANK you soooo for the godiva chocolates and the hug Unfortunately, I found out too late. Way after the fact, I was sitting at the bar and I felt my bag way lighter and then it hit me like a 16 wheeler at full speed headlights on and all... I hope I do become an example to all... add a security system where the reader beeps if you and the reader are separated more than 2 feet! @Zelda I am sure there is another ying mobileread society on the net, anti-mobliereading, where their goal is to promote illiteracy and prey on the innocent. | |

p.s. i cannot manage to change my device to none on my profile.... =""( it's almost like confirming things ... I haven't even suffered as much through breakups in my love life. From now on i will judge relationships on a "e-reader loss scale" If id prefer to lose the guy than the reader...he's not for me If id actually prefer to lose the reader... then hot dingity dong! i got my self a winner... P.s.s I have yet to meet said specimen. Last edited by Alphapheemail; 05-27-2009 at 03:07 PM. |

I'm so very, very sorry. I would be devastated if my reader went missing. I do hope it turns up and someone is honest and returns it to the auction house.

I am really sorry for you! My reader died on me and I fully understand how you feel... maybe you could place a little note in the auction building asking for it? don,t give up on life. In time, you will meet the right one and live happily ever after. The perfect ebook reader that is, as us males never come in a perfect package... (except me of course). cheers, kaas |

If it was in your bag, and no way it could have fallen out, I guess the chances of it being stolen is very large... I'm not sure what I'd do if my reader gets stolen... I'd probably rant, and rant some more and most likely try to break something... |
