Hello everyone,
I made a free ebook reader for the PC and I'd like feedback from people who read a lot. It is called bulleye. I wanted ebooks to have the same convenience and features like PDFs in Acrobat: scroll straight through the book, keep a page count that stays the same when you zoom, bookmark and resume, and copy text for research. bulleye opens EPUB (Electronic Publication), MOBI (Mobipocket) and AZW3 (Amazon Kindle Format 8) files. What's in it: • Continuous scrolling or page-by-page, one-page or two-page view • Library with covers, progress and sorting; add a whole folder • Bookmarks, highlights in four colours, notes, and search inside the book • Read aloud using system voices, dictionary lookup, auto scroll • Dark, Light, Sepia and Black themes • Free, no account, no ads, updates itself Limits: it does not open DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected books and there is no Mac version. Download (Windows installer and Linux file): https://github.com/drawerjo/bulleye/releases I'm especially interested in how it handles your oddly formatted or very large books, and which features you miss from your current reader. Thank you for any feedback. |

* There should be an option to invert images in dark modes;
* There is no obvious way to return to the main text from a footnote; * Having a preview of a footnote in a tooltip would be nice. * Loading long books could use some kind of UI indication: right now it shows NaN as a page number and does nothing for a long time. * The contents list seems to be clipped to the first two levels. |

Currently, there are four appearance themes (dark, black, white and sepia). you can easily change it by clicking a half moon icon on the top ribbon or changing it in settings. images are unaffected, as with any other ebook reader I've used previously on pc. I can find a way to make it work. I'm not sure what you mean by return to the main text from a footer. tooltips are currently being worked on. Every book loads as a whole document with fixed pages, and it does that in a second. what you're describing is something I've never experienced. how long was the book in question? For only two levels of contents, bulleye lists every level of a book's contents, each one indented, so I'm curious which book does this. If you can send me one, I'll look into it. if you could share images of what you're seeing, I'd be able to help you better. but from my tests so far, every thing seems to be working and the app is intuitive enough. keep in mind however that it is still in development and I'm continually rolling out new features and fixes. Would love to hear more of your experiences, both positive and negative. |
