The various fixes will need to be repackaged and/or modified for firmware 6.0.276679 (2026-Oct-5).

They should work as-is, but sadly due to the way 5.x and 6.x work, the mods aren't persistent yet, as I just found out. So reinstalling should do the trick.

I assumed the update mechanism was the same, but I really should have checked. Looking into it now.

Any easy way to tell what version of Kobo menu one has installed?

Funny you should ask that: I'm currently looking into building a mod manager that makes it easier to see exactly that kind of information. There isn't an easy way to check now.

(Said mod manager will also be able to make sure that mods survive system updates for firmware 5.x and 6.x.)

I had a look at NickelModManager and I like the concept of toggling mods on or off on the fly.

A merger of NickelModManager and Kobo Package Manager would be the ultimate one-stop shop for all tinkerers (let's call it NickelPack

).

So I'm on the Oct 5th build, but this nickelmenu worked for me. I can launch KOReader, everything seems normal (except the charging light stayed on, finally turned if off in KOReader). Anything I should look out for?

I had a bunch of other shortcuts in Nickelmenu, like going to Google Drive, but it crashed and rebooted. So I'm hesitant to try any others for now.

Forgot to mention I'm on Kobo Libra Colour

This is weird. I know NM was working for me and I was able to toggle Dark Mode. Suddenly I'm getting an error "Settings ABI unavailable (check failed ! nm_errpeek())" on any command that attempts to change a setting; dark mode; screenshot; toggle Auto USB.

I have tried reinstalling the current beta version to no change; still getting the same errors.
