Patches for 4.46.23836 V2

This thread is for the patches for the new firmware 4.46.23836. Most of the patches work. It may work for later firmware. I cannot say as I've not tried.

All of the patchers have been updated thanks to @geek1011

I would like to thank @aardvark for the original updated Windows .exe, geek1011 for fixing all of patchers and @jackie-w and @Semwize for help in updating some of the patches.

Use the file kobopatch.yaml to override the no to yes for each patch you want to apply. I cannot say all the patches work. Most of them do apply. If you have any issue with any of the patches, just post about the issue.

This is the same format as the patches for 4.38.23648.

There are more patchers if you need a different one not in the ZIP file. Please go to https://github.com/pgaskin/kobopatch...es/tag/v0.16.0 to see if what you need is there if it's not in the ZIP file.

Thank you to @jackie_w for fixing even more patches.

Please note:
Old patch name Increase size of kepub chapter progress chart
has been updated to Increase size of kepub/audio chapter progress chart so that:
  • chapter progress barcharts for both kepub and audiobooks can be similarly enlarged. Users who never read audiobooks can still use the new one without issue.
  • this patch is no longer reliant on a constantly-changing BaseAddress hex offset so should survive further firmware upgrades without needing to be updated every time.
The update nickel.yaml is now included in the ZIP for the patches.

Thanks to @jackie_w, nickel.yaml has been updated and fixes some patches that previously did not work as well as jackie_w Screensaver full in the custom yaml.

Here's the fix for the above nickel.yaml patch in fw 4.46.23836:
Code:
Remove forgot pin button from lock screen:
  - Enabled: no
  - Description: |
Removes the Forgot PIN -> Sign Out button from the lock screen.
If this is enabled and you forget your pin, you will need to
      hard reset your Kobo.
  #- BaseAddress: 0x1CDEEAA # qss/ParentalControlPinCodeVerifyView.qss
  - BaseAddress: 0x1CF497C # qss/PinCodeInputDialog.qss
  - ReplaceZlib:
      Find: "#lblForgotPin[qApp_deviceIsDragon=true],\n#lblSignOut[qApp_deviceIsDragon=true] {\n font-size: 26px;\n}"
      Replace: "#lblForgotPin,#lblSignOut{qproperty-visible:false;}"

This works for me on my Tolino turned KLC:

Code:
Disable forward/backward swipe Gestures:
  - Enabled: yes
  - BaseAddress: {Sym: "_ZN11ReadingView12processSwipeEP12SwipeGesture"}
  - ReplaceBytes:
      Offset: 0xE8
      FindH: F3 F6 EE CE
      ReplaceH: 00 BF 00 BF
  - ReplaceBytes:
      Offset: 0xF6
      FindH: F0 F6 30 CB
      ReplaceH: 00 BF 00 BF

Disable menu swipe gesture:
  - Enabled: yes
  - BaseAddress: {Sym: "_ZN11ReadingView12processSwipeEP12SwipeGesture"}
  - ReplaceBytes:
      Offset: 0x134
      FindH: 16 F7 8C CA
      ReplaceH: 00 BF 00 BF
  - ReplaceBytes:
      Offset: 0x13c
      FindH: E8 F6 8E CC
      ReplaceH: 00 BF 00 BF
Is the second part with spurious menu popups on swipe still a problem? I didn't notice that happening recently, but I'm mostly on koreader.

Amazing! I replaced the end of libneckel.so.1.0.0.yaml with these bytes and it works! No more swipes!

Although no I hadn't had a problem with menu swipes, just page turning.

hi,

Posted this in the thread for the previous patch, but as I'll be installing this patch soon, I'd like to ask:

How do I allow for custom top/bottom margins? Left and right increase and decrease with the slider, but patched, top and bottom are static despite adjustments.

Custom left and right margins are enabled.

I've tried both enabling and disabling the following:

ePub fixed top/bottom margins
ePub disable built-in body padding-bottom
Custom kepub default margins

...

Do I need to tweak numbers in the libnickel.so.1.0.0.yaml? If so, what would they be for the kepub format, typically converted? And what should be enabled and disabled?

I'd like to be able to adjust margins, if only because they are slightly too close to the top and bottom for my comfort.

Thank you

The slider for margins only increases margins. You can't decrease them. You have to edit the ePub to change the overall margins to 0 and increase from there.

The ePub fixed top/bottom margins doesn't do what you want. What it does is set @page values to 0 and overrides any @page values in CSS so they remain at 0.

ePub disable built-in body padding-bottom All this does is make it so a chapter can end at the last line on the screen.

Custom kepub default margins sets the built-in minimum margins for KePub to 0. This effects L/R margins in normal mode and if you turn off the header/footer, it also effects top/bottom margins as well.

The patch you may want to have a look at it is Reduce new header/footer height in nickel.yaml. This will give you more space at the top/bottom.

As usual, thank you. Grateful for taking the time to explain it to me
