Interestingly, my Kobo Libra Color, which is currently running 4.45.23697, does not find any updates when I sync it (or even use Settings > Device information > Check for updates).

Is there any chance that Rakuten have pulled 4.46.23836?

(I know that I can download it from the pgaskin.net site, but I'm reluctant to risk not being able to patch it).

You will be able to patch. I'm working on the patches now. I'm testing the ones that didn't work before along with my test set. So I'll have the patches read later tonight.

The patches are not available. I've updated the list of what doesn't work with some I found don't work on 4.46.23836.

The patch Remove forgot pin button from lock screen has been updated by @jackie_w and now works.

As far as I know, 4.46.23836 is still available. Kobo rollouts tend to be spaced out and not every device at once. Some affiliates will get updates before others. If you click on the other affiliates button for a device on pgaskin's site, you will see that not all the affiliates show the latest version for recent firmware updates.

I got these ads now and then after rebooting my devices. But that has always been the case and has been before the new firmware.

Yeah. My Libra 2 is still on an older firmware and just today I got the pop-up (it was briefly online yesterday). BTW, I have a valid Kobo Plus subscription (although I haven't used it for quite a while). So it seems that whether you have the subscription or not doesn't matter.

Anyway, this is supremely annoying.

I'd highlighted the Kobo Plus ad popup frequency increasing a while ago.

I had to set my account to a country which did not have Kobo Plus and added in the below to the Kobo eReader.conf file:

I haven't had another pop-up ever since, though I am not sure which of the 3 or a combination of finally managed to subdue it.

I had an irregular update experience on this one. My Tolino Vision Color was running in Kobo mode. I activated wifi to take a look at the new 4.46.x firmware. After the update you could see the new system in the background, but the 3-dot boot animation remained in the foreground. I could access elements of the normal desktop in the background by tapping, but the boot animation would always pop back into the foreground after a fraction of a second.

Reboots didn't help, so I had to do a hardware reset which luckily sent me back to the Kobo 4.42.x firmware, and not to the old Tolino firmware. From there I could update to 4.46.x, and it seems fine now. But the initial update process was weird.
