I would not be inclined to take advice on color ereaders from someone who does not own one or someone who arbitrarily calls "all" color ereaders rubbish.
I own a Kindle Colorsoft SE and a Kobo Clara Colour. I like them both and I alternate using them. The Kindle is a little heavier than I like. The color on the Kindle is a little darker. I think that is just because of the flush screen. The Kobo Clara Colour is smaller, lighter and easier to hold. The color is a little brighter. I do not read any comics or manga but I love looking at the color covers in my library. I have several illustrated editions of books and I enjoy having color illustrations. I don't believe that I will ever buy another black and white ereader. If Barnes & Noble puts out a color ereader with page turn buttons on both sides, I am sure I will buy it immediately. This is just my view of color ereaders. YMMV |

My view of color ereaders is that I own one, and for me it is complete rubbish [trash].
I would not recommend one at all. Of course, this is just my opinion. |

Colour e-readers are a real hot topic. I think the poll that was posted on Mobileread back then is still the one with the highest number of responses in recent times. If it’s still open, you can still take part, and that way we’ll get to hear some new opinions.

In my opinion seeing one in real life is enough and photos or especially videos can't properly show what they are like. |

By - freely - watching, it seem there start to show some used ARM devices within Oled screens, e.g. a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14Q8X9 14", 16:10 Touch, 2n1, https://laptopsexplained.com/lenovo-...14q8x9-review/
It doesn't seem bad, low battery consumtion, not to weightly (1,49 kg, anyway). https://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Ide...4Q8X9?tab=spec If they start to be @ US $275.00, it may be worth it (imho). *errata, it has already Windows 11, as it natively comes within. 15/16 hours battery leasting, it doen't gets hot.. Not sure about GNU/Linux support. Quote:

I've tried to take some pics, as the Lenovo Tab 11 Pro arrived.
Taking pictures isn't easy, and I'm not that good too ; from the e-ink doesn't either gives it justice, I still love the way it is, the pace it has, but on pictures it doesn't easily renders.Took some for the 2k oled, which yes, is impressive: the colors are vibrant, the reds seem to heat up out of the screen, the scenes within lights are wonderfull, and each color has its own, fully spectre dimension. Beatiful, really. The blacks are totally off, a contrast that it might take even some time to get used to .Still, it's just another way of reading, I would still not catch it up for everything; imho, the e-ink doesn't gets only on pulp comics, reading newest ones in there has its mood, and (imho again) not all is better on oled just because the vividest colors. I bought it so to have the possibility to use offline the Kindle app, or Kobo's, not having to struggle within DRM's, primarly, and for other use cases. Pics #4 and #5 are from the Inkpad Color 3. Ps: thanks there is KOReader, otherwise the use experience would had felt quite messy, on those so-many sponsored apps. Edit: tabled was on refurbished's on Amazon @170$. The 11,5", 16:10 screen allows to read in portrait the whole pages, on some comics/graphic novels (e.g. the Wacom Studio Pro which had 13", 16:9 would hand it samely). I have the Colour Scribe and the Libra Colour. I love a coloured e-reader but I will only use them indoors. For outside reading I use a black and white e-reader.
