"Robert Silverberg's Belzagor", from the Humanoid's bundle was nice, too: the preface have him explaining how he didn't liked the work (and it was the very first time he didn't, at his owns), despite having it nominated for the Locus (in 1971), how his perspective had changed during time, or how he came to even prefer it over others; and how he liked the comic version made several years after.
The book has one artist for the first part and another for the sequel, while the colorist is the same.
He didn't liked it because wanted to mean at colonialism, instead it came out something else, that has its own mood.
I didn't liked the main character, btw.

"Arkadi and the Lost Titan", by Caza, seemed to take 20 years to complete, from chapter 6 as technology went available, Caza used digital processing for some effects, and the lettering.
The story's plot is awesome, the author took a path between the old myths (Greece, specially) and his valuing for the american's heroes that were showing out by those times. Adding a visual masterpiece, Orpheous' poems, north myths behaviours on a sci-fi epic narrative. Scrumptious.

I'm in a bit of a choosing funk right now. Someone suggest something for me, please. Preferably not part of a series and preferably available as an audiobook. Other than that, the sky's the limit.

Just started a reread of Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon - read it ages ago - and am immensely enjoying it now - funny what odd bits I remember about it

The Man Who Saw Seconds by Alexander Boldizar. Action packed but ignore the social commentary. Locus award winner

California Bones by Greg Van Eekhout. Original ideas but is first in a trilogy. Can be read as stand alone.

If you don't mind Historical WWII Fiction, try one of P. T. Deutermann's WWII books. They are listed as a series, but all are completely stand alone. My wife and I are currently listening to The Commodore. Sentinels of Fire, The Hooligans, The Last Paladin and The Iceman are all excellent. Of course, this is my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt.

I do like some WWII fiction. I especially like naval tales of that genre. So assuming The Commodore is naval-based, that could be a possibility too.

If it might interest, there are the "Dare-Devil Aces" podcasts, from the Pulp Magazine's:

Total Pulp Experience. These exciting pulp adventures have been beautifully reformatted for easy reading as an eBook and features every story, every editorial, and every column of the original pulp magazine.

Dare-Devil Aces was another of the many pulps that rode the wave of popularity of World War I aviation tales in the decade after the conflict. It made its debut in February 1932 and lasted for an astounding 135 issues. It finally closed after World War II ended, with the November 1946 issue. During its run, it presented a wide assortment of high-flying aerial series, including The Red Falcon, The Vanished Legion, The Three Mosquitoes, Molloy and McNamara, The Black Sheep of Belogue, The Mongol Ace, Chinese Brady, Captain Babyface, Smoke Wade and others. Strap on your flying helmet, toss that scarf about your neck and get ready for some soaring action in the skies over France and Germany during the Great War. Dare-Devil Aces return in vintage pulp tales, reissued for today’s readers in electronic format.

Btw, I'll go onto the Technopriest's serie, which let Moebius and heve been wrote by Alejandro Jodorowsky only; thought something happened as for when they split, but didn't yet understood (I guess after the attempt of doing "Dune", that one that didn't suceeded and got never realized). There are some hints where Jodorowsky did blame Moebius for some allegedly copyright claims on later works. I do yet have to understand him, tbh.

"The Long Tomorrow" by Moebius is Blade Runner, btw (fantsatic).

That would be the 1975/76 title story, scripted by the late Dan O’Bannon. Moebius and O’Bannon were part of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s legendary unmade DUNE adaptation, and “The Long Tomorrow” was one of a handful of Moebius illustrated narratives to emerge from the wreckage of that project (others include THE EYES OF THE CAT and the INCAL saga). According to an afterward by Moebius, “The Long Tomorrow” began as an illustrated story made by O’Bannon while working on Jodorowsky’s film; the tale was intended as a science fiction-tinged parody of 1940s detective fiction, but, as Moebius quickly discovered, it emerged as “something even more original than the original source material.”

It's one of the very rare stories were an european does an american style detective story without to became a "french", or "italian" transposition.

P. T. Deutermann's father was a destroyer Squadron Commander in WWII. P. T. Deutermann also served on and commanded destroyers in the '60s, '70s & '80s. He also was a destroyer squadron commander. His WWII books feel more realistic to me, and I attribute that to his service in the US Navy.
