Newbie from the UK

I've recently found Mobile Read and have joined this afternoon, UK time.

As part of my pursuits, I write eBooks under the pen name "The Travelling Explorer".

So far, I've covered Travel, Music, Power Cuts, and my eBook Future.

Among my future eBook ideas, I'm going to write about Birds, as I'm a very keen ornithologist, so my knowledge would fit in perfectly in an eBook, always with the reader in mind, and as Birds are much loved by many people around the world.

I have my eBooks hosted on Gumroad, as they are one of very few Merchant of Record services whereby global taxes, which vary between the UK & Europe and other countries are dealt with by Gumroad, instead of the author, as anyone who has zero or little experience in processing tax returns would find it a logistics nightmare without Gumroad and/or equivalents to deal with taxes.

One day I would also love to have my own website as my finances improve, as I'm currently on a budget.

There are many full website options, and also the one page website Carrd, which has a free and paid version.

Which option is best to start off with, also in conjunction with what authors can afford is difficult to tell, but my initial thoughts of a full or partial website was to showcase my free and paid eBooks, and unrelated topics like Photos so that I can offer a variety of photos, videos, and information for each visitor.

Especially as I've never operated a website, I want to keep everything simple to start off, whether a full website or a one page website, so that I don't get lost in a maze trying to construct each section, and could always advance over time.
