The supermarket I work for is going to close in June for renovations. Those of us with a fixed hour contract got to choose to either take vacation days or to be placed at another store. I chose the latter and I've been lucky to get placed at the store of my preference; the one near my parents' place. It isn't the closest store (it'll take me over an hour to get there by bike and bus), but the ones closer aren't in good neighbourhoods and are known for problematic customers.
I've also offered to help pack up after the store's closed but before the builders move in and I also offered to help stock again when the building work is done. I'm not sure if I'm being taken up on the offer. I hope next week we'll be getting more information. The only thing I know so far is where I'm going and which two colleagues are joining me. But I don't know if I'll be working the same schedule, I do hope I won't have to work nights. I just hate the uncertainty and want to know what is going to happen. I'll also miss most of my colleagues, I'm getting along with almost everyone and most of us support each other when needed. Also our team leader and managers are great when supporting us when we have difficult customers. I hope the other will be similar. Second rant: next week almost all weekdays, except for Wednesday, we're working with basically a skeleton crew. The drawback of working for a supermarket is that a lot of my colleagues are in school/college/university and have exam/test weeks at the moment. Tomorrow I'm on my own until 1pm on the self check-out square. At least the weather is bad tomorrow, which usually means it'll be quiet. |

This is for Nova Scotia's only publically funded clinic for hearing and speech clinics. There is a form, but only for non-English/ASL speakers.

Did you try filling out the form on the page where below the non-English/ASL, it states We Support ALL Languages? After all the form allows you to select English as a language option. Please note though that this page does not make an appointment, they will contact you to get more information.
Alternatively, you could click on the Find your nearest location button near the bottom of the page in the Call Us box, search for the location nearest you and go from there. |

I'll try that, but it feels weird as it's labeled for non-English/ASL speakers, I'm neither.

Australia's first instances of the H5N1 virus have just been detected in a dead Skua and two Giant Petre1s.
Headline in MSM — Bird flu death toll rises as virus spreads interstate Little wonder people have stopped eating chicken and asking why there isn't a vaccine. |

I was to recall a 1TB ssd nvme as the "Sabrent Rocket" (TLC), on its 2230 format size, before and also after the Steam Deck came available had had been at 74$ at its least.
Time after it wasn't at less than 94$, and I was to know the RAM prices rose up, not really the other pieces: just had a glance whereas them rised nowadays. Last edited by nana77; 06-25-2026 at 06:27 PM. |

The NY Times thinks I need to upgrade my subscription to a "household" plan; I had to verify a device this morning because of the number of devices that access my subscription.
One, I don't think accessing a subscription with four devices, a laptop, a phone and two tablets, is excessive for one person. Two, I have a one person household! I'm not paying for phantom people to read the Times. |

I just picked up a bag of "Michigan Cherry BBQ" potato chips.
I'm reading the bag and noting all the "proudly made in Michigan", "Small batch kettle cooked" and similar stuff and two things made me scratch my head: 1. "Made with organic sea salt.". I admit chemistry is not my thing, but isn't salt an INORGANIC mineral? 2. The ingredients specify "natural hickory smoke flavor.". Wouldn't "cherry BBQ" suggest CHERRY smoke flavor? I was actually expecting the ingredient list to just say "natural smoke flavor". But to specify hickory on a product called cherry makes me wonder if the labels were written by AI. It also strikes me that in a few short years I'm already thinking "written by AI" rather than what I'd have thought for most of life: "written by an idiot." ApK |

Had a mobile contract with data for iphone and apple watch. Just found out it's been misconfigured and not actually ever using mobile data....
.... and it took more than a couple of hours of tech support for them to sort it out, which included a complete reset of the Apple Watch. |

Dear Rat B@$7@rd5 at Roku: stop pushing "Soccer Zone" on to my main menu every day! Spend your time working with your partners to fix bugs, not figuring out new ways to annoy me with intrusive ads.

It was like one year and half since I didn't went to the organic store, I was used to buy two or three things in there because them were convenient, then get accustomed to the quality of some products on the supermarket (e.g. regional products, but sold as in a large market's chain: quite a good compromise - imho).
I was to keep an eye to the prices, specially seeing the tomatos' at 8$, 13$, 15$ per kg, during winter (which can be fine, as it's not them season too), although now I haven't seen a real drop on them prices, so I went to the organic shop to check the differencies, and in there there are the near farmers' tomatoes, organic, at 4,38$ for the piccadilly, and around 3,50$, 3,70$ for the vine or S. Marzano ones. Also they have a brand of pasta that keeps some shapes' kind at a lower price, which is 20 cents close to the more common other at the supermarket (not organic, not slow dried). So I guess I can add it again to my shopping list's stops. My second, half-rant (not a real one) is about the desktop environment (which is just nice, it's great like that) that has become so full of integrations, I'd need to park the cursor by searching a blank spot, while watching a YT video (otherwise it gets a preview of a video, a pop-up from an icon, a trasparent pop-up saying in a plain format the date and the number of the views from the video's description, a preview of another application from the icon's bar panel...). |
