is there anyway for calibre to sync to hardcover.app?
They do provide an API.

Probably yes, but it would be done via a plugin specifically created for that. Usually, this type of plugin is created by those that feel the need and have the skill set for the job (calibre and its plugins are written in python).

In case you want to track your books locally, there is the Reading Goal plugin.

Calibre / Hardcover Sync Plugin
I recently published a calibre plugin that does this.

Bi-directional syncing between Calibre and Hardcover of Lists, Book Status, Ratings, Reviews, Notes, Quotes and Tags, with a Cull ISBN feature that parses any ISBN in the ebook and allows you to select from a table that details each ISBN.

I tried testing both the synchronization and metadata plugins by obtaining the hardcover API, but nothing worked.
