Only if you insist on running the very latest versions of calibre and Sigil. I've never really understood your obsession with trying to get everyone to update to Windows 11. Isn't it enough that you have? How does everyone else updating (or not) even affect you?

I never upgraded to Windows 11. I bought two laptops and one mini-PC with Windows 11.

How does everyone else upgrading to Windows 11 (including buying newer hardware with it preinstalled) affect/benefit you? Why do you care so much about what version of Windows others are using? Why is you running the "latest and greatest" not enough for you? So not enough for you, that you feel the need to suggest that others move to Windows 11 at every opportunity you get?

Well, given that it's a lot easier to remove DRM from Kindle eBooks on Windows 11 and most don't have a working Kindle to use to remove DRM, it means that if you are on Windows 11, then you should be able to remove Kindle DRM.

It's like people asking about an old calibre when the answer is in the newer calibre but they stick with Windows 7 instead of upgrading to Windows 10.

Its like the people thati insist you leave windows update on. But are nowhere to be found when a faulty update crashes your computer. You are right we each have our iwn preferences for conputers and software

Out of all the reviews I have seen so far for the new kindle for windows store. The best they can come up with is a new ui. I see mostly several crashes. Or some ebooks don't work. Those that fo have a working app are lucky.

There’s actually another option: enabling TPM in the VM on Windows 11 can solve the issue.

I set the reviews on Amazon store from newest to old. People update their reviews if the app gets better. Not all name the versions. It's still averaing 2.0 .I don't have TPM so it doesn't work for me. So this isn't my personal review.

I did find one issue with the current Windows Store app. It took a bit to fully read my Amazon library.

But as I don't use it other then to remove the DRM, everything else is secondary.

So far most the complaints about the first (1.0.15230) version seem to still be present in the latest (1.0.16118) version.

On my setup, when I install Windows 11 in a VM, TPM is auto-enabled and I need to enter a password for it. I did try using a couple of workarounds for bypassing the CPU/TPM/Secure boot check but found no real value in them given that I use my Windows 11 VMs to run preview editions. This ended up with me having to download the ISO and re-run the bypass every time which was rather annoying.

OTOH, if anyone else remember the "good old days" when you could drag the taskbar to any side of the screen, it's a 'new' feature in the latest builds.

Seems like it might be easier to figure out and run WSA in some cases More books available on it too.

Oh, I remember when they announced the "all new and improved taskbar for Win11, rewritten from scratch so that the code base (that we don't allow you to see) is easier to read (but does not have any API). Surely more new features would be easier to add... once we finish bringing it to feature par with the old version in a decade or so"... As for user-side improvements... "it is centered now".

One could not even drag/drop through taskbar in Win11 at first...
