Minimizing battery usage

I have a Kobo Sage and I want to use Koreader. Unfortunately the Sage battery is very weak and I have read Koreader will use more battery than the inbuilt nickel UI.

Koreader contains a lot of menu options I will not need. I want to switch those off. Hopefully that will remove battery usage. How do I remove them, and do you know any ways I can reduce Koboreader battery usage?

I posted some time ago about extending battery cycles on the Sage by using a different governor. I'm a bit surprised that the post didn't get any interest. I guess people prefer waging troll wars over button positions.

While it does seem to extend battery cycles somewhat, it cannot fundamentally change the fact that the Sage CPU power management simply is not very good. Part of the problem is that it also seems to burn quite a bit of battery while suspended.

As for turning off stuff you don't need, sure. To me an ebook reader is a single purpose device, so I don't really want any of those new vibe-coded "features" and addons.

Pretty much anything that doesn't directly contribute to the reading function. But, yes, I probably should have left that part out.

Thanks for researching and posting. I've added the option and I'll let you know how it goes.

Re: Koreader, I changed some options that may reduce battery use, but I see a significant different in battery usage compared to nickel. I don't see much hope for Koreader on the Sage. Plato may be lighter. I'll try that. I don't mind Nickel but I want organize books by folder rather than than dealing with metadata in Calibre.

I don't think Koreader has added a lot, if any, new (vibe-coded) features and add-ons over the last couple of years, if you browse their changelog https://github.com/koreader/koreader/releases you can see that the devs are mostly working on fixing bugs.

Yea, fair enough. As indicated, I'm not too happy about that remark of mine. It wasn't well thought-out, and it's distracting from the topic.
