Thank you for the SD card image file. The Tolino started up successfully, but I am experiencing an issue.

I don't think it is related to the firmware, but who knows. If I put the Tolino into sleep mode and wake it up relatively quickly, everything usually works fine. However, if it remains in sleep mode for a longer period (at least 1–2 minutes or more), then when I press the power button, the current page of the book appears immediately, but the screen freezes and does not respond to anything. After about 15–30 seconds, the power button starts blinking and the Tolino reboots.

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, but that did not help.

So the device is usable for reading, but it cannot be properly woken up from sleep mode.

The issue isn't with the images, they have been tested hundreds of times. Did you select the correct image (4A2/4A3)? Try flashing it to a different SD card. Either there is a hardware problem, or you modified the software incorrectly.

It is also quite possible that the issue lies with the battery. Test the sleep mode with the charger connected.

Hello. Sorry to be a pain but I need to go back from Kobo to Tolino firmware on my Tolino Shine 2 as some functions weren’t working, including the backlight. I tried putting my original Micro Sd card back in but it won’t boot- have you got a copy of the Tolino Shine 2 firmware image so I can flash another card. Many thanks and sorry to bother you.

The backlight can be activated using specific actions, this is easiest to do in Koreader. However, you have to repeat the process every time you wake the device from sleep or turn it back on.
The button codes for the Tolino Shine 2HD: Backlight - key 90 BUTTON_A, Home - key 102 HOME. I don't know how to map them to the Glo HD image.

Which motherboard Shine 2HD do you have—4A2 or 4A3?
