Same thing is happening to me on a Windows 11 PC, so it's clearly affecting multiple operating systems. Hoping for a fix soon, this is wreaking havoc on my e-book workflow.

I've been in touch with kiwidude, he's swamped right now. So I'm putting these fixes up in my capacity as his backup.

WARNING: I don't use Goodreads, so I haven't tested this change beyond 'Calibre starts without error'. Report if problems.

I've got the rest of this plugin configured correctly, but Reading Progress is the only one not updating for me on a Sync from my Read shelf.

Can someone tell me if I've got my column configured correctly?






EDITED TO ADD: I just found another post in this thread here where someone was asking if the reading progress sync was bidirectional or not, but the response was unsure, thinking it might only be one way. If that's the case, can you make this into a bi-directional sync @kiwidude?

I don't personally use this feature, but you can try the documentation to see if that helps, I did write a section for this feature:

So long as you have a column type of Integers which you do that should be correct. My test library column doesn't have the formatting stuff on it, once you have eliminated any other possible issues from the instructions you could try without to see if that makes a difference.

Never going to happen. Bidirectional sync is a curse - which side is "correct"? Either make Calibre your golden source and use the Add to Shelf option, or use Goodreads as your golden source and use Sync from Shelves. You don't mix/match.

Thanks for this release goes to albyofdoom who submitted a bunch of enhancements to the Sync from Goodreads Shelf feature.

• Checkboxes for selective syncing
• Column order changes for easier comparison
• Color highlighting for mismatched data

I don't personally use this feature so have no input on whether the changes are all good or more tweaks required - I leave that to people to feedback on.

Gotcha! I had gotten used to Goodreads being my source over the years and would often forget to set the read column in Calibre after finishing a book. (I only recently created the #r_progress column in Calibre after installing this plugin.) So if there was a way for Goodreads to be the golden source and set #r_progress to 100 for all the books on my GR read shelf, that'd be perfect. It doesn't seem to be possible even by creating a rule with Edit Sync Actions since the #r_progress field doesn't appear in the dropdown as one of the fields I can manually update.

So for now, since the plugin allowed me to set the #read column in Calibre to yes for all the books on my GR read shelf via a rule during the Sync process, I just went ahead and manually called up a #read:yes search in Calibre and did a bulk metadata edit to change the #r_progress to 100 for all of them. Was just hoping for a way to automate that step in the future.

@CheriePie - thanks for explaining what you were after. That looks like a hole in the code to me, it doesnt currently support numeric columns. I'm guessing whenever it was written the developer (probably me many years ago or someone else) couldn't think of a reason why you would update such a column intentionally in this way but you gave a perfectly good example.

I will make a change for this.

EDIT: Attaching a build with this change - can someone please test and feedback whether it works. I don't use the Sync from shelf functionality personally.

When confirmed ok I will make it the next official release to front post.
