[Conversion Plugin] KFX Input

Something is odd. Both KFX plugins are not showing as having new versions available. I've never seen this happen with new plugins over an hour old.

They show up for me in calibre.

Yep.... It didn't show up when I got the previous message announcing it above but tried it just now and it showed up and installed just fine!

When I drag an ebook from my device's document folder into Calibre, using 2.30.0, I get an unsuccessful error message.

Any ideas?

It's worked in the past but somehow it isn't.

What error exactly?

What firmware version is running on your Kindle?

The KFX Input Zip doesn't appear to have a plugin Calibre recognises. Am I going mad?

Yes it was me, I was trying to load it as a new plug-in from file instead of selecting Get New Plugins.

Hi, Shape objects have arrived on my (2022 and Colorsoft) Scribes!

Attached is a notebook with some samples.

It appears z-order is in order of object creation, newer object overlays older ones.

Also that shapes without fill are 'transparent'; if it is on 'top' what is beneath shows through.

The implementation is intuitive and well done!

I have not figured out if there is a way to to create Arrows freehand, as one can with the others.

One limitation is that Fill property does not exist or render on non-Colorsoft. But only for people with 1 of each type like me.

Let me know if you need some more examples.

I really appreciate that you're able to do this.

Also Shape border width and color can only vary if it is created freehand (without the Shape tool active). When a Shape tool is active, it's always Black and of a uniform width.

Arrows cannot be created freehand (AFAICT) so they're always black and of the uniform width used by all directly-created Shapes.

At any rate it really expands the creative possibilities from what there was before.

One thought I'm having is that there might be some From KFX option to tone down colors so they more closely resemble what they look like on device, specifically for art/drawing use case.

For reference, attached is what gets exported, whose appearance much more like the appearance on the colorosoft than brighter colored Screenshots posted before. So maybe it's already accounted for in the color values recorded in the nbk.

I was wrong about fill not rendering on B&W Scribe: of course it does (greyscale). But it's read only (or you can delete the shape). And unless you have a Scribe Colorsoft you'll never see fills.

I am making progress in handing the new shapes and expect to have a KFX Input release sometime next week.

The notebook you posted contains fully saturated standard colors: black, red, cyan, magenta. The colors in my conversion look like the screenshots in your original post.

I will look at the color differences in your exported PDF and see whether I can come up with a way to optionally duplicate that.
