Weird intermittent stalling issue (Likebook Mars)

I have a Likebook Mars (T80D) with Android 8.1.0 and latest firmware 3.1.1.

Often, the device just stalls mid-process of opening a file in KOReader, unzipping an archive in Total Commander, or displaying flowing text on screen with the Reedy app. And it's not a screen refresh issue; it will actually pause what it's doing until I touch the screen, and then it will continue. (It happens in both regular and A2 mode.)

Has anyone else experienced this and knows any remedy?

No, but I don't have Total Commander, Reedy or KOReader on my Mars. The Google Framework is usually off.

I did a full factory reset and only reinstalled the most used apps. Unfortunately, it's still happening :-/

I attached a short video to show. Note that this is just an example where it's most visible, but it happens in any app and at seemingly random (but very frequent) times. It also causes an initial swipe to be processed as a tap until the device is 'fully awake' again, and that leads to many annoying unintended taps.

I tried to connect the Mars via ADB to get some logs, but while it is connected to the PC everything works normally!
