I am having an issue. The tag browser isn't displaying author folders: like A authors, B authors etc.

How would I get that function back or, how do I fix it?

Right click on Authors.
Select "Sub-Categorize Authors"

That didn't help. It was already selected. I am just not sure what is wrong. as previous versions had it to where, when you clicked on the author option in the tag browser, it would show folders for each letter of the alphabet. And this latest version doesn't do that. And I liked it. now I can't view author by the letter of their last name. What am I missing?

Preferences►Look&Feel►Tag Browser►Partitioning and collapsing

These are the settings that control the behaviour. Maybe you need to tweak those?

Can you post a screen shot of what you have in Preferences->Look at feel->Tag browser->Partitioning and collapsing e.g.

photo one shows the authors section. There used to be folders there for every letter of the alphabet now, there isn't

photo 2 shows the same for series; and it was the same as the authors, there used to be folders

last photo shows the tag browser look and feel


I still haven't figured out why the folders aren't there

Two things :

Try switching to List view.

What is the setting for "Collapse when more…", if its not 0, try 0.

Didn't change anything. Still no folders within the authors in the tag browser; nor folders in the series on the tag browser.


I just don't know what else to do.

I don't use much the Tag browser but my guess is that there is a threshold beyond which partitioning is actually active, depending on the number of authors in the current library. (if I understood the issue correctly)

I don't think that was it. as I had at one time over 100 authors and it displayed properly.


Everything I have tried hasn't fixed it. I just don't know what else to try. Which is really sad as I really love Calibre. But might end up not using because of this issue

The Threshold number is when it partitions a range. Mine is 12 when it MAKES a folder.

Also make sure you did not accidentally (right)clicked Don't Subcatagorize ...) in the Tag browser category

That fixed it. I just don't understand how it got changed, as that was a thing I have never changed.

Yeah. That is what it was. So I put that at 12 and it worked. Just don't understand how it got changed. But then on the other hand: I am rebuilding my library within Calibre. A few months ago, I had a computer crash of sorts, and when I went to use Calibre, it claimed that my library was corrupt. And even re-installing wouldn't fix it. So I was using just book Fusion at that point. But I love Calibre so, now that I have made a new library, I am re-adding everything and then had the issues happen. Now they are fixed
