That sounds as if the display is the issue. An image on an eInk panel will remain there until it is overwritten (see bistable display).

I suspect trying another µSD card with the image will not help though it is unlikely to hurt so go ahead and try another image. I would also check that all the cables are firmly connected.
Thanks, I tried another card, with the same result.
I tried putting the firmware update downloaded from Kobo on the SD card, but the button LED is flashing as if it's doing something, but it's been doing this since last night...
I'll try forcing kobo to shut down and checking the flat cable.

I just wanted to say a big thanks to @Bibliophagist.

Here I am, I brand new member who joined to request the SD image for my naffed Kobo.
This legend replies within 24 hrs to my request.

I continue to have my faith in humanity topped up by such altruistic people.

Thanks for the kind words. BTW, bibliophagist is simply a variant word meaning a voracious or avid reader (a devourer of books).

Hi, brand new user here as I'm trying to fix a e-reader for our local repair cafe.

Currently I can't verify the version of this kobo, hence I would like to request the firmware image for a Kobo N236 Aura Edition 2 V1 and Edition 2 V2.
