Thx to the wonderful people in this forum, I was able to revive my kobo and i have now 14gb of space.

Hi DNSB, unfortunately didn't work for me: the only change is that the backlight now turns on, but nothing else happens. The image of a book cover that's now gone remains fixed.
Can I try again?

That sounds as if the display is the issue. An image on an eInk panel will remain there until it is overwritten (see bistable display).

I suspect trying another µSD card with the image will not help though it is unlikely to hurt so go ahead and try another image. I would also check that all the cables are firmly connected.

Thanks, I tried another card, with the same result.
I tried putting the firmware update downloaded from Kobo on the SD card, but the button LED is flashing as if it's doing something, but it's been doing this since last night...
I'll try forcing kobo to shut down and checking the flat cable.
