Export all-new Kindle Paperwhite/Scribe notes directly with KMate now on Mac

Hey everyone! A few years back, I launched Kindle Mate—a handy little Windows tool—right here on this thread , and I got so much amazing feedback and support from all of you. It meant the world!

Recently, I upgraded to the Kindle Colorsoft and Scribe, and I’m absolutely loving them. But here’s the thing: it seems Amazon tweaked the USB connection method (switched to MTP), which has left a lot of users stuck. Now you have to install USB Transfer or third-party tools just to use the app—super tedious, right? On top of that, classic devices like the Kindle Oasis have had some changes to their vocabulary builder format, causing compatibility headaches.

Let’s be real, this tool hasn’t been updated in ages. You guys have been asking for so many cool features over time: cloud import, merging duplicates, supporting more dictionary formats, and better exports to PDF/Markdown/Anki. So I figured this was the perfect chance to give Kindle Mate a total rewrite—and guess what? Apple just approved it, and it’s now live on the Mac App Store!

This is also my first-ever Mac version, so I’m sure there might be a few bugs or little quirks here and there. That’s where YOU come in! I’m calling all testers—download it, play around, and hit me up with your feedback. Every comment, suggestion, or bug report will be taken seriously and deeply appreciated. And don’t worry, I already have tons of new features in the works!

Here’s what you can expect from the new Kindle Mate:
- Sync notes directly from new Kindle models (Paperwhite/Colorsoft/Scribe) – No more messing with complicated software or import/export hacks! USB and MTP are supported right out of the box.
- Import notes/vocabulary from classic Kindles (Touch/Voyage/Oasis/Scribe 2022) – Fully compatible with the latest firmware updates.
- Multi-source import (Kindle device/App/Amazon Cloud) + smart deduplication – We’ve updated support for the newest App and Cloud formats, and yes—Colorsoft’s colorful notes work too!
- Supercharged Vocabulary Builder – Add StarDict/Mdict/Mobi/Text dictionaries (supports Mdx/HTML styling + pronunciation).
- Freely export to PDF/Markdown/Office/Anki – P.S. I also spruced up the Anki export with better styling options and tag support!

+ Smart Filter & Deduplication for Notes: Quickly filter, delete duplicate notes at one click via Filter > Duplicate Filter Mode menu. KMate analyzes duplicate notes, similar content from intermittent writing in Kindle Scribe note input. You can also manually select or retain specific entries before deletion in this mode. Deleted duplicate records will not be re-imported, keeping your note library clean and organized.
+ Create new notes: KMate now allows users to create notes via New Note, in addition to double-click editing. Newly created notes are automatically linked to corresponding records and support export.
+ Delete word usage entries: Remove specific usage context records while reading vocabulary usages for easier organization of your vocabulary words.
+ Expanded color marks: Adapted to the extended color palette for new Colorsoft e-ink devices and Kindle App. Pre-set color marks are expanded from 4 to 9 options and automatically matched with notes in color, enabling better management of colored notes.
+ Bulk Import for Clippings & Vocabulary files: Import multiple clippings files or vocabulary files in one go. KMate unifies the import process and performs centralized deduplication automatically.

Thanks for your feedback. That's weird though. I believe KMate is available worldwide in Mac App Store including German, and KMate supports German language as well by the way. Could you try searching KMate in Mac App Store?

I tried searching for it but to no avail.

When I type "kmate" into the search field I get "kmate - chat with global" as a suggestion. This app does not seem to be active anymore, but maybe because it once has been there is a name conflict that prevents your kmate from being listed?

Thanks guys, you really helped me out. Apple needs to complete Digital Services Act review and then the app will be available in EU region... The review is in process now, I believe soon it will be available. A little tricky for a newbie app developer like me lol..
