Currently 6° and not raining. The rain part will change fairly shortly. OTOH, the promised lower temperatures and possible snow for the end of the week has now been changed to more rain or just clouds. Looking at the bright side, I've never had to shovel rain...

It's cold, currently (10.45pm) it's -1℃, but because of the wind it feels like -7℃.
This morning I had to run errands and it was just above freezing, when I was ready to head back my tram was just departing, so I had to wait 15 minutes for the next one and it was really cold. Tomorrow the temperature probably won't get above freezing, but with windchill taking into account it can feel like -10℃ or colder. But at least today was sunny, as will the next couple of days be. |

Looks like the chances of a white Christmas have reached 0%. The only precipitation for the next few days is rain, rain and more rain.

It's still cold. Yesterday the temperature stayed below freezing. I had to get some eggs from the supermarket for our parents and when I went it was -4℃, but there was an icy wind so it felt like -12℃.
Right now (10.30am) it's -4℃, but it should warm up to around 2℃, and another sunny day, so that's nice. On New Year's Eve it's going to rain, normally that would stop people from taking their time setting off their fireworks, but it's the last time non-professionals are allowed to set off all but the lightest form of fireworks (eg sparklers will still be allowed). A lot more fireworks have been pre-ordered (sale starts on Monday). So unless there will be a heavy downpour it'll be a very noisy night. At least if it drizzles (which is the current prediction) things are less likely to catch on fire. |

NC roller coaster weather returns - we had a cold rainy Xmas but today I took my after lunch walk in a T-shirt - warm & breezy - but temps will dip back into the 20's F mid-week

Last night's snow was not as deep as predicted (up to 8 inches was the forecast) because warm, moist air moved up from the south more quickly than expected. So, we got 4.5 inches of wet, heavy snow instead of 8 inches of dry, fluffy snow. The liquid equivalent was probably the same, but the heavy snow that we got was like shoveling wet cement. I surrendered to reality and hired a couple of young guys to clear the driveway.
There's a coating of ice at the bottom of the driveway, near the garage door, and some slush on the slope of the driveway. They've been salted but they'll freeze again tonight -- the temperature is supposed to drop to 15°F -- so I'll leave the cars at the curb and bring them down tomorrow after I salt the driveway again. |

I made that same decision the last time we got a heavy snow fall. Letting some young guys take care of the job was worth the cost.

Today was low 40's F temp, cloudy, grey, and damp. Finally took a walk - heard a strange noise - realized it was sleet/cold rain hitting my parka hood - for about a minute, then stopped. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 60's F, then arctic air rolls in for the rest of the week.

Yesterday they initially predicted it to get misty in the afternoon. That was pushed back, first to late afternoon, then to evening and then to during the night. It never got misty and during the day it was sunny and pleasant.
Today looks like a typical December day; cloudy, around 5℃ this afternoon and down to around freezing tonight and a chance of some rain this afternoon. Tomorrow it'll be sunny and after that it's back to dreary weather with a chance of rain every day. On Saturday there's a record fair I might want to go to. However, it's a 20-30 minute walk from the train station to the venue, so I'll wait to what the weather's going to be like. |
