Thank you for ChareInk7SP. Today, I had the opportunity to try it out.
Do you guys have any idea why ChareInk6SP looks very fine (like printed on a paper) on my PocketBook 632 Touch HD 3, but ChareInk7SPW looks like a dull digital font which is unpleasant to read? Thank you for any feedback (I am not an expert on fonts.) The image from my reader is here: https://ibb.co/LDZQcyN6 Last edited by Ence; 12-14-2025 at 05:08 AM. |

The thing is, ChareInk7SPW has some added weight by the font editor. Try ChareInk7SP. That has no extra added weight and should look good. |

Dear JSWolf, you can see ChareInk7SP preview in the image I shared in my previous message. For some reason, ChareInk7SP displays much thinner and lacks contrast on my reader, whereas ChareInk6 seems to have completely different thickness and is much more readable and contrasting. In fact, even ChareInk7SPW is thinner than ChareInk6 on my reader (this can also be ssen in the image). I do not know the reason. Do you have any ideas? |

Both the ChareInk6 variants have quite a bit more added weight than ChareInk7SPW. Since Kobo ereaders now allow adding weight to sideloaded fonts, it became less necessary for that added weight which caused issues with some glyphs. If that capability is not available on your Pocketbook, Jon might be able to generate a Charis 7 variant with the same added weight as the ChareInk6 variants.

Yes, I can add more weight to ChareInk7SP if it's wanted. But, I can't guarantee no errors. But, the font editor I am using is a later version then what I used before. So maybe less errors. |

I'll do a version of ChareInk7SP that has more weight then the one I posted and you can see what you think.
