I never intended it to be a manual on how to write an ePub but rather to allow me to check for missing glyphs in a font. At the time I originally wrote it, I was reading David Weber's War God series and he did enjoy using names such as Hŭrăka, Zŭrăk, Ǣtesk, Œ̄tesk, Shīgū, Tomanāk and Sothōi which my Kobo showed as Z⍰r⍰k for instance. Oddly enough, testing on a Kindle Keyboard 2nd generation showed the same issues. My hardcovers didn't.

If my old notes are correct, it was originally created using Sigil 0.70 when Strahinja Val Marković was still Sigil's primary developer. If you feel like doing a total rewrite using what you feel is acceptable coding practices, feel free to do so. For me, it has served it's purpose for the last 15 years and I don't want to waste my time doing a full rewrite to match my current coding practices.
I don't have anything I can find from 2010. But I do know that my coding has gotten better from back when.

Thank you for ChareInk7SP. Today, I had the opportunity to try it out.

Do you guys have any idea why ChareInk6SP looks very fine (like printed on a paper) on my PocketBook 632 Touch HD 3, but ChareInk7SPW looks like a dull digital font which is unpleasant to read?

Thank you for any feedback (I am not an expert on fonts.)

Can you also post an image of ChareInk7SPW?

The thing is, ChareInk7SPW has some added weight by the font editor. Try ChareInk7SP. That has no extra added weight and should look good.

Dear JSWolf,

you can see ChareInk7SP preview in the image I shared in my previous message.
For some reason, ChareInk7SP displays much thinner and lacks contrast on my reader, whereas ChareInk6 seems to have completely different thickness and is much more readable and contrasting.

In fact, even ChareInk7SPW is thinner than ChareInk6 on my reader (this can also be ssen in the image). I do not know the reason. Do you have any ideas?

Both the ChareInk6 variants have quite a bit more added weight than ChareInk7SPW. Since Kobo ereaders now allow adding weight to sideloaded fonts, it became less necessary for that added weight which caused issues with some glyphs. If that capability is not available on your Pocketbook, Jon might be able to generate a Charis 7 variant with the same added weight as the ChareInk6 variants.

Thanks for clarification. I would very much appreciate the variant with the same added weight as the ChareInk6. For me, ChareInk6 is by far the best font for my E-readers.

Best regards

ChareInk6SP has no added weight. There is also a version that does have weight and you are correct that there are issues with some glyphs. But only at a large enough size to be noticeable.

Yes, I can add more weight to ChareInk7SP if it's wanted. But, I can't guarantee no errors. But, the font editor I am using is a later version then what I used before. So maybe less errors.

I'll do a version of ChareInk7SP that has more weight then the one I posted and you can see what you think.
