Change date to today when moving book between library
hello all
first let me said, I know that when I add a book to a library, it takes the date of today also know that if I edit the date and use = it will set it to today however, I have a few libraries, sorted by languages that I read and by genres, then I have one library that I expose to internet using calibre-web so I can access books from anywhere in the world (yes, I am an avid reader and a long time backpacker) I sort the public library by date, so new books are always on the top, easy to browse from my tablet or phone so when I want to get some books, I move them from my privates libraries to the public one however as they are not added but moved, they keep the date and do not change it to today. therefore a book I added a year ago will not be at the top and might be difficult to find (hundreds of public books, documentations and so on) is there a way to automatically change the date of the book to "today" when moving it between libraries ? reup |

See the action chains plugin you can probably create a chain that will first set the date to today and then move the selected books. Or just select the books you want and use the bulk metadata dialog to set the date to today manually before moving them, its 3-4 extra clicks.

I will check the the action chains plugin I knew to change the metadata manually, but as I forget to do it many time, I am looking for an automatic action. this plugin might be the solution |

Quote:
Go to Preferences > Adding books > Adding actions uncheck When using "Copy to library" action to copy books between libraries, preserve the date. When it;s not check and you copy between libraries, you get the current date. If it's checked, you get the same date as the source library. |
