The ability to toggle BT off from the status bar and fixes to the "Bluetooth turns on when opening a book" were noted in the patch notes when I updated just now.

They're getting ready for the Remote. Does this work better with the existing 8bitdo setups people already have?

The notes for the f/w update for the Libra Colour mentioning getting ready for the BT page turner, there is no updated f/w for the Sage. Does this mean the Kobo BT page turner won't work with the Sage?

Yes, I remember readinbg that some weeks ago on the Kobo site, which is why I asked. I assumed that if the newer device required a f/w update to work with the page turner, the older one would too, and the lack of such an update concerned me.

I think it's just a marketing ploy. The remote already works with every Kobo that has Bluetooth; the update text is just to let people know that the remote is coming out. All you actually get from the firmware is the bugfix and the separate Bluetooth toggle.

According to https://pgaskin.net/KoboStuff/kobofirmware.html the Elipsa has a November 2025 firmware update 4.38.23552 with the same release notes as the November 2025 firmware update 4.44.23552 for Clara BW, Clara Colour and Libra Colour.

I'm assuming the other older Bluetooth models including the Sage will eventually get a similar firmware update as the Elipsa.

My notes on the path to this update show:

• Added a Bluetooth icon to the status bar
• Turn on Bluetooth after waking up device from sleep to establish a quicker reconnection to BT devices
• Improvements to the update process to help prevent devices from getting stuck
• Updated certs
• Improvements to WiFi and Bluetooth stability
• Fixes for some upgrade guardrails
• Stability improvements
• Improvements to BT stability and reconnection on entering a book

AFAIK, this update will propagate to the other Kobo devices starting with the Bluetooth enabled devices and moving back to older devices. Many of the changes are related to upgrade issues though the Bluetooth changes seem more related to the new pageturner reconnecting after sleep.

Many of the changes I've noted have been related to improving Bluetooth reconnecting after resuming from sleep. When I played with several Bluetooth devices for page turning, reconnecting after sleep was an issue that kept popping up.

I gave up on a BT keyboard on Kobos (tried 3 models?) because of the disconnection / need to reconnect issue. I imagine this would make using a BT keyboard more viable for annotations. Previously it was useless, because after reading two or three pages and then wanting annotation the BT had disconnected.
