Calibre 6.29 and Kobo Libra Colour
I've just purchased a new Kobo Libra Colour and have discovered that it will not connect to my version of Calibre which is 6.29 (this is the latest version I can run on my Mac). Is there a way of getting around this problem?

I see two possible options for you. The first one is to install the lastest python version and then symlink it so that it bypasses the outdated python version that macOS comes with. This might help you run unsupported Calibre versions.
https://dev.to/malwarebo/how-to-set-...on-on-mac-4jjf You can try to upgrade to the latest macOS version using OpenCore Legacy Patcher: https://www.macworld.com/article/672...orted-mac.html |

Alas, this seems to be a problem for me as well. Not sure I would've bought a current kobo if I'd realized I wouldn't be able to use Calibre!
Has anyone actually tried running more recent versions of Calibre on older Macs? (My OS is stuck on version 12.7.6; no way to upgrade without getting a new computer). Any idea what version should I be targeting in order to get compatibility for a Libra Color? Is it really just about Python 3.x? Calibre's already finding Python 3.10 on my system, so that part shouldn't be an issue... |

Try using the driver found in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=77 which is part of the discussion of Kobo Libra Colour Support from https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...85#post4476485

The issue with newer versions of calibre is related to the Qt application development framework that calibre uses. It unfortunately has strict requirements as to what host operating systems and versions it supports.

Thanks @PeterT, I will try that out! I also appreciate the info about the QT framework; that makes much more sense.
