Ok - regardless of the actual temps or weather, it is now officially winter.
Last night, Pixie cat walked me to my bedroom, waited for me to get tucked in, and then stood on my pillow until I raised the covers (now consisting of flannel sheets and puffy duvet) so she could snuggle against my ribs and make biscuits until we both fell asleep. |

It definitely isn't winter here. Today's max temperature is going to be 17℃, where it's normally around 11℃ this time of year. Today I haven't got any chores besides cooking tonight. So I'm first going to work on my cross stitch project and after lunch I plan on finishing my current book, Stephen King's Later (love the references to It). |

Just in from my post-prandial walk and wow! It’s cold out there.
I’m not acclimatizing to late fall/early winter evening temps as I usually do. I generally get through the holidays without issue and in a week, I’ll start to have the holiday lights to enjoy for the next month. But even though it’s barely below freezing, I was cold. Sigh. Too soon to throw in the towel. |

Lovely day to take the grandpup to the off leash park. Other than a dog owner of little wit who brought their Chihuahua-terrier mix into the large dog section and then got upset when it was run over several times by medium and large dogs when they were rounding corners, a good time seemed to be had by all.

Right now, I'm firing up my old Ebookwise EBW-1150 that I bought back in 2004. Mobileread still has a bunch of older books in the .imp format, so it feels like stepping back in time. The thing still works, and the battery is holding a charge for now, though I’m already looking into swapping that old battery out.
What makes this fun is that it isn’t some random eBay find. It’s the one I bought brand-new. I remember taking it to work and showing my co-workers back in the day. Almost all of them said, “E-books? No one is ever going to read e-books. It’s a stupid idea!” One gal liked the idea though. She bought an Ebookwise the next day, and we ended up with a tiny two-person book club during lunch. So my plan is to read at least one whole book on this thing before going back to my daily reader, my old BeBook (also ancient; came out in 2009). Last edited by tsgreer; 12-02-2025 at 04:42 PM. |

I'm waiting for my sister to get on a virtual meeting with work or on a call with a colleague.
Normally she works from the office at least 4 days a week. However, she's been having an allergic reaction to something (rash and itchy all over) and the doctor prescribed her strong anti histamines. Which means she isn't allowed to drive until she stops taking them. On Friday it's Sinterklaas, and although we don't officially exchange gifts we usually get a little something for each other. Yesterday I finished a cross stitch project that she had already claimed (it's a fun project, but I'm not going to put pink mountains on my own wall). She doesn't know it's finished and I had planned on giving it to her framed and ready to hang. I did wash it yesterday. But it still needs to be ironed before I can frame it. Bit since we keep the ironing board and iron downstairs I need to wait until she's in a meeting before I can go iron it to limit the chances of her coming downstairs to get something. Then I need to gift wrap it, which is another problem; I plan to frame it in a hoop, and how do you wrap something thin and round. I'll need to watch some YouTube for that. |

Tried a new recipe, adding some sweet to see how the sourdough rises, so a spoon of maple syrup, raisins and them soaking water.
Also discovered that pre-heating the mold gives better results, too I'd mistaken the leavening time, waiting only 8 hr but it would have needed at least 12 or 16 (but discovered how to do the foldings). https://imgur.com/a/izWOcJY |

You know it's been a weird year when the $17 impulse buy fleece jacket on Thanksgiving turns out to be the warmest jacket you've ever worn - totally wind proof

The kind of year when you buy a ticket in a charity lottery run by a society for the homeless where the prizes were smart home products and you win a smart deadbolt (those were prizes 7 & 8). Once it's delivered, I'll have to dig out the tools to re-drill the hole through the door and give it a try.
