We are not talking of ad blocking plugins for web browsers. We are talking of AV software for the computer. Norton is one of the worst. In fact, most of them are pretty dire. That's why I run Microsoft's AV as it works rather well and does not noticeably impact my computers.

AV software is not supposed to block website ads.

I gave some software that I believe are necessary for avoiding malware. You said only Defender was necessary. Fidvo responded why uBlock Origin was necessary.

VirusTotal isn't really an antivirus either. It can't scan your computer, only file you upload.

I don't use uBlock Origin. I use AdBlocker Ultimate and Ghostery.

But forgetting ad blockers because this thread is not about ad blockers, all you need to run on your computer is Windows Defender with Windows.
